We needed a trash can for the kitchen in a tight location. Nothing from the local retailers would fit, so I did an internet search. When I saw the itouchless sliding opening model, i knew it would work. I ordered it from Amazon (best price). What came from Jack's Country Store was the 1 gallon model, not the 13 gallon one I ordered. After a few phone calls, itouchless sent the correct one, but too late for the party I wanted it for.
The first one had broken parts in the lid, so itouchless sent a new top at no charge.
So now, how does it work?
Actually, quite well. The IR sensor opens the top when a hand approaches it, so all I have to do is drop the trash in. The opening then shuts. It does make spme noise, but not too bad. And I don't have to step on a pedal or push a swinging lid to get the can open.
Changing trash bags is no worse than any other can, and it uses standard 13 gallon bags, not custom bags like the "Simple Human ones". So after a bad start, I am satisfied with the product.

This new 14 gallon Touchless Trashcan SX model uses the latest sensor technology and patented space saving lid opening design. As your hand or debris enter the zone 6 inches from the infrared sensor on top of the trash can, the lid will automatically slide open. No up or down lid motion means more capacity in less space. The lid will remain open if debris or hand is within the 6 inch range of the infrared sensor. 3 seconds after your hand moves away from the lid it closes automatically. At top front of the lid there are open and close buttons for manual operation, and there is a on/off power switch on the back of the trash can. This 3rd generation automatic trash can is the only trash can with the automatic space saving design. Fits any regular 13 or 18 gallon trash bag. Comes with bag retainer ring to secure and hide the trash bag inside the trash can.
