I am a HUGE fan of the Roomba but do not like the new 3-arm side brush recently introduced. I view it as a mere money-making scheme from the iRobot company. When I first bought my Roomba, it used a 6-arm side brush. Over time the arms break off but it took a while before all 6 broke off so I could go a month or so without replacing the side brush. Now with the 3-arm brush (which seems to be of even weaker construction), I have to replace the side brush every 2 weeks. It's very annoying and I think a lousy move for iRobot to make and to impose on its customers.
