Hurricane Ike and an 8' tidal surge wiped out all of our fishing gear...but not our pier! So with most of our money going to repairs and such, this was the bargain of the century to get back out on that pier to catch whatever Ike left in Galveston Bay (or put in it...lol). Buying more now for friends to use when they visit. It may not be the best on the market (and who really cares at this point) but it catches sand trout, big croakers, etc. I like it just fine.

In the ensuing years, the Zebco 33 has become the most popular fishing reel in the world. A favorite of rookies and seasoned anglers alike, the Zebco 33 spincast fishing rod and reel combo continues the tradition with such features as all-metal gears, stainless-steel covers, a ball-bearing drive system, and dual-line pickup pins. The Zebco 33 also includes an Auto Bait Alert function that makes a clicking sound when it's time to reel in your catch. The combo kit further improves your fishing experience with its 6-foot medium-action rod made using two-piece Z-Glass construction. Other features include right- or left-hand retrieve, a front adjustable drag control, and selective anti-reverse. Pre-spooled with 10-pound Cajun line, the combo kit carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty.
About Zebco
Watchmaker, barber, and inventor R.D. Hull founded Zebco in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1949, in conjunction with the Zero Hour Bomb Company. The latter company, which manufactured electric time bombs designed to fracture oil wells, was looking to expand beyond its initial product and its expiring patent. Zebco's maiden reel was called the Standard, and was soon to be joined by the Model 22 in 1953. The Model 11 and Model 33 followed, helping popularize the notion of landing larger fish with lighter tackle. Dozens of products and patents later, Zebco still pays tribute to the legacy of R.D. Hull with every rod and reel the company produces. The W.C. Bradley Company purchased Zebco in 2001, but the company headquarters remains in Tulsa.
