This review is basically a supplemental one to my full review of the Yoshi blade at the link enclosed. I purchased this deluxe set after being so satisfied with the purchase of the basic one a little while ago. I decided to spring for the larger set for I was able to give a couple of the knives as gifts, plus it includes two each of the 3 and 4 inch blades giving you a full range set of ceramic knives. As written in my other review, these ceramic knives have come to be my favorite kitchen item by far. Personally I am not put off at all by some of the limitations of ceramic knives that are stated clearly in my other review. When used correctly, these knives can easily become ones favorite in any kitchen. But one thing that has become obvious to me while researching ceramic knives here on Amazon, and elsewhere online, is that the Yoshi blade is by far the very cheapest you will find these ceramic blades for sale. Online, I found even small 4 inch ceramic knives to cost as much as the Yoshi basic set of two 5 inch knives. Some of the prices were outrageous. And Amazon is the best place to shop and buy ceramic knives no matter what kind you decide to buy. I do not and have never owned a ceramic knife by any of these other brands, but I do know that regardless of the quality difference, I believe that due to their material and manufacture, they can all shatter with misuse just as easily. Meaning that the single knife you purchased at a premium price has just become next to useless. I also know that the Yoshi blade is very thick with an excellent quality handle that is a pleasure to use. I find it very hard to imagine the extra cost of the other ceramic knives to be worth it in the long run. Not with all you get in either the basic or deluxe Yoshi set. If you are considering a ceramic knife, I suggest you read my other review, and then decide for yourself if the Yoshi is the best deal around. (At the time of this writing, the basic Yoshi set is unavailable, but the reviews are still posted). In my opinion it is by far the best bargain around for a ceramic knife, and I highly recommend both the basic and deluxe sets of knives....
