Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Whirlpool LRF4001RY Fabric Freshener System, Removes Odors, Relaxes WrCustomer Review: Works well, but only for a short time Summary: 1 StarsWhen I first received the item it did not work (would not pump water into the boiler). I was sent a second unit and returned the first one. After approximately 6.5 months the second unit developed the same problem. I have noticed in other reviews that this appears to be a common problem.
If they ever fix it to be reliable, or extend the warranty to cover the predictable failures I would buy another one. As it stands now it is expensive for a 6 month life.
Customer Review: Great for everything in your closet except for cotton button down shirts and khaki pants. Summary: 4 StarsI had originally bought this for steaming my work shirts. Well, it doesn't really do shirts all that well. However, for my wool suit pants and blazers, it works out great! It gets the sweat odor out, so less trips to the dry cleaner ("long time no see, sir") It's great to use as a gentle dryer like when my leather gloves get soaked after a heavy rainstorm. The Fabric Freshener is not a panacea, but it will save you money on those weekly trips to the cleaner for the more expensive items in your closet.
Customer Review: Great in concept. Serious Flaw - wasted $$$$$$$ Summary: 1 StarsI loved this in concept. Loved it so much I convinced many a friend to buy one. Within 3 months, my first one died. Stopped "sucking" up the distilled water from the resovoir - therefore no steam produced.
Warranty? HA! This thing comes with a 60 day warranty from the manufacturer. What a waste on a $200 investment.
I liked it so much tho - I figured maybe, just maybe I did something wrong to it accidentally. I bought another one. Yes I sure did.
Within 3 months, once again - Same problem!!!!! No "sucking" up of the distilled water. Just sits there in the resovoir.
Whirlpool - you OWE me.
Customer Review: great product Summary: 5 StarsI have been using my fabric freshener for nearly two years and I love it. I was surprised to read reviews that said it quit working too soon or that the water cup lasted only three cycles. I use my machine every week and clean about 10 items per week. The water cup has always performed and I replace them every few months as recommended (I have used them longer and they keep working fine for a couple months beyond the recommended timer period). This item is NOT a steamer and it will not remove all wrinkles, but it does remove a lot of them and odors are completely gone. I rarely take clothes to the dry clearner since buying this product.
Customer Review: Great when new, wears out fast Summary: 3 StarsFor about 8 months, this thing was a lifesaver. Not as good as a good ironing, not as clean as dry cleaning, but I could dress professionally every day of the week, thanks to this contraption. As I was using it heavily (ave. 2-4 cycles per week) I kept up religiously with suggested maintenance, but alas one day, it would no longer take water for the steam cycle and was rendered useless overnight. I've ordered a new one hoping (possibly naively) this is a fluke but this otherwise 5-star product is downgraded owing to it's (in my opinion) way-too-early demise.
