I don't own this product, but on reading about it on the waterwise website I see that the collecting bottle is made from polycarbonate. this is the very same material that has been found to release bisphenol A into water when used to make containers. Given that waterwise and its customers are concerned with water purity and health I'm puzzled as to why the company did not use glass and why people concerned with water purity would be OK using this type of container.

The Model 9000 countertop water distiller provides enough water for up to 4 people, producing a gallon of pure water in 4.5 hours. No assembly or installation is required! Using the Waterwise 9000 is so easy! Just fill the removable boiler with tap water, plug into an electrical outlet, push the start button and replace the collector bottle...and that's it! The Waterwise 9000 will stop automatically when the cycle is completed.
