They're good when they work, but when they break (and it seems like most do) it is a NIGHTMARE to get a repairman to come out and fix it the first time around. I had my unit for 8 months when it died.
Apparently if the mother board goes (a common problem which gives you an f11 error message before the washer completely dies for good), the repairman is sent a reconditioned part from the manufacturer, so most likely it will break again. And if it's something other than the motherboard, usually the repairmen aren't trained well enough to troubleshoot quickly- and most won't have the necessary part on hand, and will have to order it. And if the water pump goes out (the delightful f34 error, where the washer will start its cycle, then cut out after a minute or two), you're definitely not in for fun times.
Both problems happened with my appliance on multiple occasions. It seriously took me 3 months of begging, trying to reason with and finally screaming at the sears repair center people to send me a unit that works. All tolled, I spent 20 hours on the phone and had a repairman out 4 times (with no success ever) before I got them to agree to send me a new unit under the Lemon Law. And even that was a nightmare- they sent me two different supposedly new units that didn't even work right out of the box. The third unit they sent (and i had to wait yet one more week before they could schedule a delivery that fit my schedule) was the one that FINALLY worked. Tallying everything up, I've had the washer for under a year and have had to spend almost 30 percent of that time without it. It's been about a month since I received the non-lemon one and I'm crossing my fingers and toes that this one doesn't break.
Other than that, I really like the washer.
