I've been using the Vita-Mix for about a week now and continue to be pleased with how easy it is to use and clean. At least one reviewer said it's hard to clean unless you clean it right away. Well, duh! Thick mixes will leave thick residue if you let them dry. That's true of any mixer. All you have to do with the Vita-Mix is rinse the lid and container thoroughly right after you pour your shake into a glass. Couldn't be easier. Another reviewer described it as noisy. All blenders are noisy. I had an Oster before the Vita-Mix that was so shrill I couldn't run it unless I covered my ears. The Vita-Mix is somewhat loud but at a low frequency that's not at all a problem. I make green smoothies but wasn't satisfied using kale because a regular blender just couldn't handle the somewhat tougher leaves. With the Vita-Mix I can use any fruit, any greens including kale, and the result is completely smooth liquid in seconds.Customer Review: The best blender there is!

I own the VitaMix 5000, so my review really applies to that model. However, all VitaMixes share some of the same qualities.
First, though, what it isn't. The VitaMix company claims this is a juicer. It isn't. If you want to juice something, buy a proper juicer, such as the Champion juicer or Jack LaLanne's JFPJ-B Power Juicer Juicing Machine. But that is the only criticism I have of this machine--and it isn't the machine's fault that the VitaMix marketers don't know when to stop.
What the VitaMix does really well is blend. I've had many blenders in the past, and they all eventually wore out. In addition, none of them were up to some of the tougher blending jobs I wanted to do, such as making homemade mayonnaise or making smoothies from pure frozen fruit.
With the VitaMix, I have never had a problem with anything I wanted to blend. I've had my VitaMix for over 7 years, and it is still going strong. If something ever were to happen to it, I would replace it with another VitaMix.
I am sure I underuse my VitaMix. For example, I haven't tried making homemade sorbets or the like, because I have the best ice cream machine in the world (the MUSSO LUSSINO 4080). But for smoothies, it is without peer, and for making homemade mayonnaise, perfect. Whatever you use your blender for, this is the machine to use.

This blender is the best you can find out there. Make sure that you mail in your extended warranty and get a bonus 4 years added to the standard warranty (even though you probably won't need it). I use the blender every day- fresh salsa, soups, smooties, ice cream- you name it. It breaks down things to a cellular level so it's easier for your body to take in the nutrients. I have been a Vita Mix user for over 10 years. As my children grew up, they wanted one of their own. I purchased this for my son who was thrilled to receive it as a gift. This machine does everything from make ice cream to making fresh hot soup. I couldn't live without it. In fact, if I were stranded on a desert island, I would want my vitamix and a 12 volt battery so I could make coconut smoothies for the natives.Customer Review: Try the rest, then buy the best:

This Made-In-USA product makes us proud. So many restaurants and bars use these hundreds of times daily, probably more than the average home user does in a year. They are built to perform and to last.
