Customer Review: Baker seeks nut chopper for delicious encounter

Part 1. I like to bake - a lot. And being a Texan I use a lot of nuts (mostly pecans) in my baking. I've bought all kinds of tools - electric and not - to uniformly chop nuts. None worked well. Believe it or not, I was trying to persuade my husband (a retired tool and die maker) to build a similar "grid-like" device to chop nuts when we ran across this chopper at a local kitchen store. I had not seen TV commercials so had no preconceived ideas about it. I am pleased to report it works pretty darn well. Not perfectly. It is time consuming in that you can't lay a pile of nuts on the grid and expect the lid to close and chop. The nuts have to be pretty well flat on the grid. Nonetheless, it works far, far better than any other tool I've used. If there are too many nuts on the grid, it's very hard to press. I've learned what works, and that's what I do. I can see that if you're rough with it or put too much on the grid, it could break. I can say that I've chopped more than 40 pounds of pecans, walnuts, peanuts, almonds, and macadamia nuts, and it's as good as new. I have reserved it only for nuts. I don't want any cross-contamination from other flavors.
Part 2: My daughter purchased one of these for herself, but since she doesn't enjoy cooking, she passed it on to me, not knowing I already had one. My husband uses it to make quick work of chopping onion, celery, and bell pepper (using the small dice grid) for his bean salad. I use it for dicing potatoes for soup and other uses. It works wonderfully. Again, you just have to be judicious about how much you put on the grid. It is a bit of a pain to clean, but if you use the included cleaning tool under running water, it goes pretty quickly. All in all, I'm very happy with this tool.

I LOVE this thing, and I don't even like "kitchen gadgets"! I got this as a joke "gag-gift" for my husband who always complained that I cut up the vegetables too big. Now I can't live without it. Satisfies my OCD nature by easily turning out piles of perfectly cut, uniform sized pieces. You would be amazed at the variety of veggies you can shove into an omelette using the smaller dicing blade. Makes your soups and salads look professionally prepared. Easy to clean, too. I plan to get one for all of my girls for Christmas (just so I can have one available when I cook during visits!)Very sturdy. Only tip is to be sure that the chunk of vegetable placed on the grid for cutting does NOT over-lap the edges of the metal grid. Having pieces sticking out beyond the cutting grid suface is what makes it hard to cut.Customer Review: Best Salsa Maker!

I'm on my third one now because I use it so much. I chop veggies for salads, casseroles, slow cooker and of course, Salsa! This little gadget is perfect for chopping tomatoes, onions and peppers. I use the small blade and everything is so uniformly cut for just the slightly chunky salsa that I love. I've tried a hand chopper, food processor and chopping by hand. The chop wizard is by far my best result. I used to have to wear a mask and gloves because the pepper juice would make it difficult for me to breathe. Now, I can chop peppers without any problem. I made three huge batches of salsa in under an hour. I also use the large blade to chop potatoes. My mashed potatoes are now evenly cooked. This device is used so much at our house that it is hard to keep clean.
Our prep time for cooking has drastically been reduced. Making salads is quick and painless. We have given this as gifts and everyone loves it!
If you want to spend time chopping vegetables with a conventional knife, then don't buy this product. Otherwise you need this product!
