This 4.5 inch Victorinox knife makes a great size utility knife. In fact, I do not use them as steak knives but as everyday knives for slicing and paring (when I need something a little bigger than a standard paring knife). We bought six of these knives about a year ago. We use them every day for meals and, even though they are not specified as "dishwasher safe", we put them in the dishwasher. So far, the only effect is a slight discoloration of the black handles. We like them so much that we ordered more. We feel that even if they don't hold up after prolonged exposure to the dishwasher, they are so inexpensive that we can afford to replace them every few years.Customer Review: SHARP and CHEAP!

This is an awesome knife, I also bought the larger Santoku blade so this is a great extra. Its best for things like tomatoes, citrus, or anything that isnt needing a larger knife. The serrated blade is extremeley sharp and will cut through anything without tearing!

It's the one and only knife for making an Israeli style fresh vegetables salad. This knife produces a really microscopic dice of two cucumbers, one red or yellow pepper and one tomato: repeat as many times as necessary! Also,have a few band-aids ready: trust me, you will need them!
