Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Victorinox 40520 Fibrox 8-Inch Chef's KnifeCustomer Review: Proven Brand Recommended by A Proven Cooking Show Summary: 5 Stars
Victorinox is well-known for its Swiss Army knife; so, I made no qualms when this was recommended Cook's Illustrated (or America's Test Kitchen). I've had Victorinox's utility knife and peeler even before but am very glad I found it's chef's knife. (Want cheaper but equally efficient knives - from Santoku style, to utility, to bread knife, to cleaver? Try the IKEA 365+ Series of knives.)
Customer Review: Quality for cheap Summary: 5 Stars
I'm typically hesitant to give 5 stars, but considering that I have never had use for an absurdly expensive, super-quality knife, I feel the 5 stars is warranted here. This knife serves my needs perfectly, a lightweight but sharp blade that doesn't bend too much, and a very sturdy handle attachment. I bought this on a recommendation from a friend, and it has definitely lived up to my expectations.

Customer Review: Rated "Best Value" By Cook's Illustrated Summary: 5 Stars
"There's a reason we have 20 or 30 of these in the kitchen, " said a tester; others agreed, calling it "Old Faithful". They found it notably sharp, with "great maneuverability." In sum, "This is exactly what a knife is supposed to be." Three stars out of four for each of these areas: Handle. Blade. Kitchen Tests. Edge Retention. For 23 bucks, I don't think anyone can go wrong with this knife.
