I received this knife as a Christmas gift and decided to try it out immediately to carve a cold cooked turkey for a buffet. Wow. Although it was a little long for this job, I was delighted with the knife's manageable weight and sharpness. It took me fewer than ten effortless minutes to slice up a large turkey and the results were food-magazine perfect--no ragged pieces at all. I then used it to chop vegetables into fine dice. Great again.
I dumped a heavy carbon steel knife out of the countertop block to make room for this one. If it can retain its sharpness over the next couple of months, I'll be buying more Forschner knives.

Finally at the age of 70 I get a real chef's knife. I can't believe how much better it is than the ones in the knife sets I have bought previously. I am taking very good care of it. No dish washer for it.
And the price was very reasonable. Why didn't I do this a long time ago?

Great price, good knife, good feel in the hand. Sufficiently sharp when new, though it became noticeably duller fairly quickly. We just moved into our own place a month ago, and we bought this knife to be our first as we learn basic cooking. It's serving us well as a first knife, and I don't regret the purchase, but if we could have afforded something better, a better knife probably would have been worth it.
