Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Uplight Lamp with Crackle Glass ShadeCustomer Review: Blown Bulb = Blown Touch Circuit Summary: 2 Stars
Between Target in-store and Amazon, I have purchased three of these lamps. All three have suffered the same fate--when the bulb blows, the touch circuit fails. I have no idea why, and from reading these reviews, it appears I am in the minority (or most folks do not check back in). Because I like the look, part of me wants to buy another. However, I don't think I can justify repeatedly purchasing a lamp that fails like this. Am I the only one?
Customer Review: Bought the lamp for my daughter Summary: 5 Stars
Her birthday was a couple of weeks ago and I tried to order the lamp online since it was sold out at the stores, but it was not available online either. It would have gone great with her new furniture. This past week, I was shopping at my local Target store and alas! they had one in stock. I immediately purchased the lamp..bought a 40 watt bulb (as suggested in a previous post) and put it on a table in her sitting room. She absolutely loved it! and it looks great! I only wish they still had it on sale when I purchased it. That was the only downer.
Customer Review: Broken in transit; not as advertised Summary: 1 Stars
We wanted a 'touch base' lamp but that was not what we received; on/off switch was on the power cord. When lamp was removed from packaging we discovered a hairline crack in the shade. We returned the product.
Customer Review: Buy it here because it sells out too fast in the stores! Summary: 5 Stars
Wonderful lamp - the touch base is fairly responsive and the glass thickness and translucence create a light that is just diffuse enough to be attractive but bright enough to be useful. I find the "high" setting a bit too bright with a 60 watt bulb, and I noticed that in the stores the display has a 25 watt bulb so I would recommend a 25-40 watt bulb for maximum enjoyment of this lamp.
Customer Review: Convenient, but with some flaws. Summary: 3 Stars
This lamp is our second, and to be honest, it's not quite as good as the first. For some reason, it's a little bit too touchy. When we touch it, instead of cycling through dim, medium, high, off, it often skips stages and goes from off to high, dim to off, etc.
It does get hot, as another reviewer mentioned, but to me it doesn't get dangerously hot and I don't think it's a fire hazard any more than any other lamp with a 60 watt bulb.
Also, be aware that the 3-way feature only works with incandescent bulbs, NOT the energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs. If you use a fluorescent bulb, all three "on" settings will be exactly the same. The bright side (pardon the pun) is that you can save energy and have a touch lamp... you just don't get the 3-way feature of the lamp and it takes three touches in the "on" position to turn it off.
