Customer Review: good for the price
Summary: 3 Stars
Took it on a trip to make special food (chiao bao). Works great but needs proper amount of time between uses. After about the 3rd time it began to warp heavily. The layers still fit properly only because i made sure it was dried while stacked. Great for the price but don't expect it to last more then a few weeks-months of consistent use. Might as well get a metal one if thats the case.Still great for the price. MAKE SURE THEIR IS SUFFICIENT SPACE FROM THE BOTTOM AND THE WATER PAN UNDER IT. girlfriend let it touch the bottom of the pot with boiling water and ended up burning the bottom.
Description of Typhoon Professional 8-Inch Bamboo Steamer
A true work of craftsmanship, this eight-inch-wide steamer is made of the highest quality bamboo. The woven domed lid and two slatted, interlocking tiers not only look beautiful but steam up a healthy meal of meat and/or vegetables. The steamer needs to be placed above the heated water source, either resting on top of a saucepan or on a rack inside a wok. Tips for cooking with the steamer are included, such as placing the thickest ends of asparagus in the middle of the steamer where the heat is the greatest.After cooking is completed, the steamer should be gently scrubbed by hand with warm water and liquid detergent and allowed to air dry. Food can also be cooked on ceramic plates placed inside the steamer, thereby keeping the bamboo cleaner.
