Customer Review: Great Size, Built Well, and Work Well

I got these last week and tried them out over the weekend. Nothing fancy, just 1 part OJ concentrate and 2 parts milk. Yeah, that's right, just put the one can of frozen concentrated fruit juice in a blender along with two cans of milk and blend to mix well. The milk will blend up real nice and expand just a bit, making it freeze less solid than a water mixture. This gives them both flavor and texture that is preferable for frozen treats. Anyway, after letting them sit for a few hours in the freezer (preferably overnight), you just take them out and run a little tap water on each side for about 60 seconds. Then they pull right out. The plastic is thick so it takes a little more time than ice cubes or other thin plastic molds.
The size is great. No tiny little kid servings here. You get a nice big frozen treat. The plastic is all pretty much heavy-duty. The support sticks have holes cut in them to allow the frozen mix to fill in there and create a better bond for extraction and while eating, minimizing the chances of sliding off.
Recipes are easy to find. Just look up smoothies or any other sweet liquid treat. They can almost all be converted into a great frozen treat to use in these molds.

It's that TIME of LIFE! UGH! But, I make sugar-free Jello pops in my Pop molds almost every day...it's the only thing that cools me off! These are terrific! I actually bought 2! (Don't forget -- run it under hot water to remove the outer mold.)

I like to eat frozen juice bars, but they are expensive compared to regular popsicles, so I decided to buy a set of these molds and make them myself. The base tray is great as it holds the molds securely upright, and the popsicle "stick" has a drip tray top that serves as a cap, which also centers the stick in the mold.
I made some frozen grape juice and they turned out great--no need to ever buy juice bars again. Make sure you freeze them long enough--I was impatient and tried it after 3 hours and it just broke apart. So I left it in the freezer overnight. Just run some warm water over the mold and they slide right out.
The drip tray is a little annoying, but if you make sure you leave an inch of space when you are filling up the mold, it generally won't get in the way when you're eating the popsicle.

I'm impressed with the Tovolo Yellow Groovy Pop Molds. The plastic is very sturdy & the pops release easily by running under hot water for a few seconds. I like the individual molds, the fit is snug while waiting for freezing & may be eaten one at a time without having to unmold the entire tray as with other products. The handle is easy to grip, they are easy to eat, except when you get to the bottom. It's challenging getting your mouth around the last inch or so or the pop. I solved this however, by not filling the mold to the top. I do wish the molds were a bit smaller. The Tovolo pop is 4 oz, while store bought pops are 1.65 oz. I've had these pop molds for only a week now, but I'm already very pleased with them and am planning to buy another set. I've made pudding pops with instant pudding and fruit pops with concentrated fruit juices. The pop size is very generous, the pops unmold easily and the components are sturdy and easy to clean. I just fill the pop mold with hot water after unmolding the pop and it's clean and ready to be reused in short order.
As others have mentioned, they are generously sized, but you can always make the pop smaller by filling them about halfway. The holes on the plastic stick which allows the pop to be "anchored" onto the plastic are placed quite low on the stick. So you can get away with making a smaller pop. I like being able to choose large or small pops depending on the fill size.
