I bought 6 of these back in Feb 2008, and these things are almost indestructible. My 5 year old was 2 when I bought them, and had earned the name "Destructor" for his prowess at destroying all that stood in his path. He threw these bottles onto the kitchen floor when he was mad. He even tossed them out the car onto the pavement (while the car was parked). Two of them are dented on the body near the lid, but otherwise they're all fine. The bottom has a nice rubberized surface so it stays in place. The bottom also does a great job of absorbing impacts.
It has a one handed opening mechanism - just unhook the latch and push the button.
Pros:
1) Stands up to Destructor.
2) Keeps things hot or cold for a really long time.
3) Carabiner attaches to your backpack.
4) One handed operation.
Cons:
1) Can dent.
2) Destructor did remove a silicon gasket on one (but I found it and put it back).
3) Hard to fit ice cubes in the opening -- at least from my ice cube trays if I fill the water up to the top on them.
4) It's pretty big.
5. NOT dishwasher safe.

Customer Review: Can't drink hot drinks from the spout

For those of you thinking of using this to keep your drinks hot and drink straight from it, I need to tell you that the spout is not designed to drink hot drinks from. It's just like a bottle spout, with no lip around it. You will scald yourself. If you are using it for cold drinks, it should be fine, and I'm sure this thing would keep it cold.
Also have to mention that packaging was inadequate, which coupled with UPS abuse, resulted in dents on the stainless steel wall, and a chip on the plastic near the wire clip.
I returned this item due to the unsuitability of the design for my purpose, and the dents too.

This bottle is great! Love that is made from Stainless steel. The vacuum seal helps to prolong hot or cold inside and also no condensation or hot on outside. I prefer stainless steel over any plastic bottle, BPA free or not as I don't worry about the plastic leaching strange chemicals. I always try to use stainless whenever possible and I have stopped buying plastic bottles of water. I just fill this up and take it with me in the car or bag. No worries about heated plastic bottles. Plus I have had no problem at all with leaking.
This kept my cold water all day while doing yard work in hot sun. Very convenient to drink from, especially compared to some other thermos/bottles. Love that this is super convenient to drink from...push the button, top pops open, drink from the nicely sized spout! These will be gifted to my friends and family as everyone loves these!
One thing to note...if you purchase from Amazon, be sure to check that your bottle doesn't have dings/dents upon arrival. Amazon packs this in a box with air pouches in the box but no filler paper or bubble wrap around it to protect it from other items in box (or from the harsh travel conditions of a UPS or Fedex box). I had to have amazon replace a couple of these out as they were dinged/dented upon arrival together in one box. My bottles arrived in plastic bag sleeve but packaged right next to each other in a larger box with a few air pouces. Keep in mind that if the vacuum seal is compromised (may be possible from severe dents/dings) so will the heat/cold retention.

I have little more to say, except "Ditto to every 5 star review for this item on Amazon." This Thermos is literally the very best water bottle that I have ever owned, bar none. Considering the top notch quality of this product, it is worth every cent (and more.) I love this so much that I am buying another one for my wife as well. There is not one thing that I dislike about it (and THAT is really saying something for me.) I have read some reviewers that are worried about losing the lid gasket. I can envision where that could possibly happen, but that possibility is definitely not a deal breaker for buying the best water bottle on the market (IMHO.) I own two other Thermos water bottles (18 oz) that have a pop up spigot that you have to suck the water from. It loudly chirps when you drink from it. They are all equal in their near perfect thermal qualities, but THIS one allows me simply push a button to pop it open to chug my water without the neighborhood wondering where all the racket is coming from. If you are like me and love to drink ice cold water throughout the day, you will absolutely love this water bottle. Really.
