Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Thermos Nissan JMQ400 14-Ounce Leak-Proof Insulated Travel MugCustomer Review: A good buy Summary: 5 Stars
I bought it as a present..But it stayed in my possession. :-)
Great for drinking tea (coffee) on the way to work.
Customer Review: A great mug for a motorcyle commute! Summary: 4 Stars
This is a dream come true. A mug I can take with me as I ride my motorcycle to work! All though the top took some getting used to, it is still fairly convenient to use even while riding. And the coffee stays HOT for over an hour. A good buy!
Customer Review: A great replacement Summary: 5 Stars
My boyfriend needed a travel mug so I just went to the store and bought the first one I found, which ended up not being a good pick. The first day he used it fell and split everywhere.
So, to redeem myself I went on amazon and searched for the best Travel Mug I could find and this one was it. After reading numerous review, this one sounded like the best one. As soon as he received it he did the spill test. He closed up the lid, turned it upside down and shook it. Nothing came out, he was very impressed.
We can't find anything wrong with this travel mug, it is a great replacement for any travel mugs that are so-so.
Customer Review: A very good thermos mug with a few issues Summary: 4 Stars
I do like this travel mug. It fits well in the cup holder in my car,I like the handle even though I thought I wouldn't and it appears to be a durable item that will last a while. My issues with it are as follows: If you run very hot water into the mug for a few minutes before you fill it with coffee it does stay hotter longer but not long enough in my opinion. I fill the mug at 7AM and by 10:30 my coffee is tepid. I thought it would stay hotter longer. After the preheat, make sure you don't go ahead and pour cold half and half in to the bottom of the mug with your sugar or else you will be defeating the preheat. The mug cools off as fast as it heats up. What I do is put the sugar in, then some hot coffee, then put the half and half in, and finish pouring the coffee. Make sure that you do not overfill the mug because when you go to screw the lid in the coffee will rise up around the lid and you will need to shake it out over the sink to get the drops of coffee out from the lid. Even after doing this, the liquid adhesion of the coffee in the thin space between the lid and the lip edge will trap coffee in there and you will have to take the corner of a paper towel and skillfully insert it into that thin gap to soak up the coffee that won't shake out.
It also took me a while to realize that the screw lid is hollow and comes apart into two pieces. It started to smell sour and that was from trapped coffee inside the hollow lid itself, Make sure to pull the two pieces of the lid apart and clean them to avoid the sour smell issue.
When you tighten the lid properly it surely is spillproof; but be advised that if you drink in the car on the way to work you should be sure to tighten that lid before you get out of the car. If the lid is even a bit loose there is a chance that coffee can spill out. I learned this after being embarrassed by a long trail of spilled coffee running down the hallway floor to my office door from the entrance. If you are a woman with long nails this mug may not be the best choice for you because when the lid is tightened it can be very tight and may be hard to open with one hand while driving as you must get the proper leverage on the lid to turn it to the open drinking position. A handle trigger style drinking slot would have made it easier but I learned how to unscrew the lid one turn with one hand after some practice. Anyone with arthritis or carpal tunnel should find an easier mug to drink from as it can be annoying.
All in all a quality travel mug if you can deal with it's few caveats. Recommended.
Customer Review: Absolutely leak-proof! Summary: 5 Stars
This mug really is leak-proof! It's great for commuting. The only complaint I have is that it is very heavy. I would never take it backpacking.
