Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Thermos Nissan FBB1000 34-Ounce Stainless-Steel Vacuum Insulated Briefcase BottleCustomer Review: 32 Ounces of all day hotness! Summary: 5 Stars
I got this so that I wouldn't have to buy coffee at school on days when I'm there from morning til night and need that afternoon hit. It keeps my coffee hot for about 12 hours (although it doesn't usually last that long!). It seems to keep it hotter longer when I fill it with hot water first, like others have said. It fits well in my backpack, which is the other reason I got it because I ride my bike to school so need something leak-proof. It's too tall to fit securely in the side mesh pockets (in my opinion), but I have a roomy backpack, so it slides in the main compartment really well. I hemmed and hawed a little about buying this, but the $$ I've saved has already paid for it. I love my thermos!
Customer Review: A Great Investment!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I thought this one will not hold enough warm/hot water for the whole night when we make our baby's milk. I was wrong, it did... and more. We can bring this and put it in her diaper/feeding bag when we travel - that way she'll have warm milk every feeding. It has a sturdy, stainless steel body plus with just a little twist, out comes the liquid - without having to remove the stopper completely. The main cap can be used as a cup. This also works well for cold beverages/liquids. To clean, I'd recommend using a non-scratch baby bottle brush such as Sassy. One of the best products I ever bought! Well worth the money!
Customer Review: A Must Buy Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great thermos that I have been using pretty much daily. I originally bought it due to not drinking enough water so I wanted to drink more on my way to work. Though did not want to deal with either taking my own glass, or a disposable one in the car, and also worry about it spilling. So I looked around and bought this one from amazon.
Its stainless steel and has been dropped a few times by me but still no noticeable dents or scratches. The top unscrews and can be used as a cup but I tend to just drink straight from the thermos itself. Then inside you have a plastic and rubber thing that screws in and creates the vacuum seal.
For keeping things cool, it works amazing. I filled it up with the water I keep in my fridge. Went to the park and walked around. After about 3 or 4 hours of it sitting in my car, in the sun, in mid summer in hot Florida the water inside was still just as cool as if I had pulled it out of the fridge. It seems to keep temperature about 24 hours give or take.
I have not tried anything hot as I pretty much just drink cold drinks, and don't eat soups.
I have used it to grab some water for on the way to work, put something in it for trips as well and also fill it up at stops on trips so that I have something in the car. Have even used it to drink out of at home sometimes as it holds a decent amount and keeps things cool even when you have unscrewed the top.
Currently I'm thinking of buying the larger model just for when I go play basketball so I have more water to drink afterward. This model is for drinking liquids on a normal pace. Though I will continue to use this one as well as it works so great and looks so nice.
My only issue I ever had with it is my own stupidity. There have been a couple of times I forgot to screw in the plastic/rubber stopper and just screwed on the metal cup lid. While nothing came out when the cup was on due to it having a great seal as well, when I opened it there was some water that came out. Though this is just from me being stupid and not putting in the stopper screw. So more of a warning to people of what not to do.
I would recommend anybody getting this as you can use it no matter if just drive to work every day, go on trips, or even stay around the house.
Customer Review: A Thermos that really works !! Summary: 5 Stars
After I read the reviews from other customers, I bought 4 of this thermos for me and my families. And I am very very glad that this thermos really works as it is advertised. Like the other customer, I also put my thermos to a test - fully filling it with hot water @ 10 PM (> 95C, without pre-warm), then put it outside in the patio (< 15 C) for a whole night. The water is still hot (burning my lips) when I drink in the morning (7 AM). I, then, take the thermos with the water I filled last night with me to the office, and the water is still hot to the last drop (not burning my lips, though) when I finish the whole bottle @ 3 PM. So this is really a good thermos.
I like its big capacity (970 ml; not 1000 ml though - I measured) and its slim, clean, and neat looking. Since there are some Japanese Supermarkets in the place I live, I went to several places to do the homework before I do my purchase. I found out that I cannot find any bigger thermos to be as slim as this one . I did find some thermos that has bigger capacity (1200 ml, 1500 ml, and 1800 ml), but they are to big to be carried in the backpack. And these big thermos are also priced among $20 ~ $40. The slim thermos I can find in the Japanese Supermarkets are about the same slimness as this one, and they only have 500 ml in capacity.
The drawback of this thermos, I can find so far, are:
1. Though it is almost as slim as the 500ml thermos or the thermos mug sold in Costco (Contigo Double Wall Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Tumbler), I still have problem putting it fully into the cupholder on my '05 Elantra. Only 1.5 inches of the bottle can be put into my car's cupholder. I think it is because my car's cup holder is not big enough. I cannot put the thermos mug I got from Costco (Contigo) fully into the cupholder, either. The widest part of this bottle is on its bottom, which is greater than 3 inches and smaller than 3.25 inches in diameter.
2. Some thermos I saw in the Japanese Supermarkets are with some button in the inner water stopper so that you can just press the button to pour out the water. Push another button to shut the bottle. This one, however, didn't come with such convenient design. So you need to twist the inner water stopper every time before pouring out the water, and afterwards you need to make sure that the inner water stopper is properly twisted closed to avoid spillage. So this means you cannot drink the hot water while you are in driving, operating machineries, ...etc. What I do is to pour some water into the thermos mug I got from Costco (Contigo) before I drive or during my pulling over to rest so that I can still drink the hot water while driving.
3. This cute slim thermos is, however, pretty tall - 12.25 inches.
Customer Review: A good thermos Summary: 4 Stars
I was looking for an old style green Stanley thermos. I have had them in the past and recently was with a friend who had a very, very old one. It reminded me how well it kept coffee hot all day and I decided to get one. After researching I was convinced that after selling out overseas, Stanley no longer made the same awesome thermos. This Nissan is a fair replacement. Looks great, holds up well and keeps coffee hot for 4,5 hours in my case.
