Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Thermos Nissan 18-Ounce Stainless-Steel Insulated Travel TumblerCustomer Review: 350 miles of hot coffee Summary: 5 Stars
Poured some coffee in when I left CT headed for Buffalo, put it in the backseat beverage holder while I loaded the van...AND FORGOT ABOUT IT..so dumb I stopped and BOUGHT coffee on the way...when I got to Buffalo 6 1/2 hours later found it while unpacking, and the coffee inside was still hot, which proves this cup is smarter than I am.
Customer Review: A winner Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this for my husband for Christmas. He was always having trouble keeping his coffee hot (and making too mnay trips to the coffee machine to refill because of cold coffee). Now he's worried that he's not taking enough breaks because he doesn't have to refill - his coffee stays hot. Yesterday night at 10:30 he had me taste his coffee that he had poured into the mug at 5:30...it was still hot!! Great mug! Take note though, is not leak proof...do not put it in a bag upside down
Customer Review: A wonderful coffee cup! Summary: 5 Stars
I have used the Nissan stainless steel travel tumblers for several years now, and I just love them. They keep the beverage really hot, which is very important to me. I don't like the cheaper tumblers that let the beverage get lukewarm. I carry my Nissan travel tumbler with me wherever I go - even on vacation to Europe!
Customer Review: After several months of use, upgraded to 5-stars Summary: 4 Stars
I've had one of these for several months now and I was silently happy with it but, only when someone gave me an Oxo Good Grips LiquiSeal Travel Mug I came to realize what a good product the Thermos really is. It's not perfect, of course and, here are the positives/negatives, as far as I can name them:
+ fits well in most car cup holders
+ top screws tightly, no spills there
+ good insulation, keeps coffee warm for my hour-long commutes
+ relatively easy to clean (had-wash only, no dishwaher)
+ the hinged, flip top close/open lid seems to be the ideal solution
- after several months of daily use, the middle rubber grip (see picture) is no longer tight and it can fall down
This is a great coffee mug for the car, highly recommended, probably the best there is. I am rounding up the 4.5 stars to 5 because the rubber grip, while loose, hasn't completely fallen off and, as I am writing this review (and sipping coffee) it's still in place (it needs slight readjustments, usually after cleaning).
Customer Review: Almost Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I have lived with this mug for months, now, and I love it. It fits into my car drink holder (which many mugs do not), and I like the lock back device which keeps the drinking hole cover out of your way (I have a beard). The tapered shape and nobby rubber grip feels comfortable and secure in the hand. The cap isn't leak proof, but it screws on tightly enough to prevent spills unless you knock it over, at which point liquid can seep out of the drinking hole.It really does what it's supposed to do, which is keep my coffee hot. This is especially true if you follow the instructions and rinse the mug with hot water prior to putting the coffee in. It stays hot enough for me much longer than it takes me to drink 18 ounces, although I do not like my coffee scalding hot. I find that I use this at work and home for a desk mug, as well as using it as a travel mug, as it is easy to carry around, and it has its own rubber coaster on the bottom. It holds a LOT of liquid. Two minor negatives: You can't microwave it (but you wouldn't need to, would you, unless the coffee was already cold in the pot?), and you can't put it in the dishwasher. I usually rinse it with hot water daily, and give it a hand wash in the sink when it needs it. Note that the outside is stainless, but the inside will stain. I truly recommend this product.
