Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Thermos E10500 16-Ounce Leak-Proof Travel MugCustomer Review: Brilliant Travel Mug Summary: 5 Stars
This is an exceptional travel mug. I have never used anything like it. I strongly recommend it for anyone that desires a leak-proof mug that keeps you coffee hot for hours.
Customer Review: Coffee Mug Summary: 5 Stars
I love this mug. I have used my coffee mug for over 5 years now and I love it. I get up at 5am pour myself a cup of coffee and head out into the cold. At lunch the coffee is still warm. How can I complain about that? I would strongly recommend this mug.
Customer Review: Complete Disappointment Summary: 1 Stars
So I searched long and hard for a GOOD thermos that would fit into my classic black lunchbox. I thought I found it... I certainly felt as though I paid for quality.
NOT!
When I first received the Thermos E5 16oz "Leak Proof" Travel Mug I was concerned about the delicate rubber gasket that makes this thing work (or not), but I figured, hey, these guys are the experts, I'm just a picky designer that really knows nothing about this particular product.
You know what's coming right?
Well, first the plastic bottom fell off (after two weeks, and I promise, this thing has been treated with kid gloves, not clipped onto a backpack as the design suggests - or even put through the dishwasher). This morning (I've probably used it 30 times), I filled it up with coffee, tightened the lid, and placed it into aforementioned lunchbox.
The coffee POURED out all over everything. After a choice words, I cleaned up the mess, and figured hmmm... probably my fault... did I screw it on wrong?
Of course not. I carefully took the lid off, and very carefully screwed it back on. I then turned it over and once again the coffee poured out.
You know, I have a 15+ year old Nissan Bullet, with the smartest darn (simple) pouring system you can imagine... it will keep my coffee HOT for a good 8 hours. Why the BLANK keep re-inventing the wheel here? The e5 is junk as far as I'm concerned.
I guess I just need to find a lunchbox that will fit the old Bullet.
Customer Review: Everything I dared hope for in a thermal mug. Summary: 5 Stars
I've never felt this way about a thermal mug before, but when I first laid eyes on this mug, I knew my long search was over. This mug delivers as promised, and has everything that I value.
- Solid construction means that this will last for years.
- Quality thermal sealing retains hot and cold temperature.
- Tight seal is truly spill-proof.
- Stainless steel looks very eye-catching.
- Bonus caribiner makes this easy to carry.
A few words on getting the most out of this product.
As my pictures show, it is a bit cumbersome to clean. Get a bottle brush and clean it thoroughly as soon as you are done with it. I use this mug exclusively for teas with NO milk.
The seal is superbly tight -- I can hold this over my head when closed and have no fear of getting drenched. The seal forms SO well that when you unscrew the mug for your first sip, you will probably hear a little pop.
I usually get about 3 hours of "hot", with up to 6 hours of "warm". Cold lasts much longer (as long as 6 hours of "icy" with another 4 hours of "cool".
You can extend the length of the thermal retention by "priming" the mug in advance with hot or cold. While my tea is steeping in the morning, I pour boiling hot water into the mug to start the heat retention. If you close the flow after each sip, you will probably extend temperature retention for even longer.
I expect to use this for years to come. At this point, I've been using it 4 or 5 times a week for 6 months, and have no complaints.
Customer Review: Excellent Mug. Summary: 5 Stars
I got this thermos mug as a gift 2 years ago. It is a wonderful little containter. It does everything it claims to do. It looks good. I've used this for work constantly. It keeps liquid hot for about 8 hours. I've dropped it 2 stories onto rocks and it's slightly dented. I still use it. It's great.
