Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Westinghouse Stick Up Bulb by TelebrandsCustomer Review: Not durable, and you can buy it in many places Summary: 2 Stars
Well, it is a cool product, and good idea to use. But the bulb was broken in first 3 days. We put the second one on. Dont know how long this second one will last. We used it only few minutes in the morning, when we need to get some cloth out of closet.
Also, it is not on line product only. I found Bed Bath Beyond has it and CVS has it. They sell 9.99. Without extra bulb. But still, misleading to say online only.
Customer Review: Ok Summary: 2 Stars
If you are totally desperate for a little light, in a very dark area, this would work. But, be aware it provides very very low light. Reminds me of a 3 watt night light. Pictures of this item make it seem brighter than it is. Beware.
Customer Review: Ok buy not as bright as I wished. Summary: 2 Stars
Great concept but it's not as bright as I needed for my closet and it seemed to use a lot of energy, the batteries died very quickly. This is better than the big round stick up ones you push to turn on.
Customer Review: Ok once bulbs are upgraded Summary: 2 Stars
I got these knowing the bulbs were useless and intending
to replace them with LEDs. Once this is done, the lights
are acceptably bright and last reasonably long with four
AA cells. According to my calculations, the battery life
should be about 25 times greater with the LEDs.
Why the vendor has been unable to figure this out is beyond me.
Customer Review: Read this, have realistic expectations and you'll be fine Summary: 4 Stars
I note this because I see a lot of different stars, from 1 to 5 stars and I think I know why: Unrealistic expectations.
If you want a powerful, very strong light, then go with an electric bulb. However, there are some areas where this isn't practical and it would be costly to put in the electrical wiring. Also, electric bulbs can get very hot.
That is when these battery-operated bulbs can be a MAJOR help. They don't get extremely hot, go up in minutes and (my favorite part) can be removed and carried around the house if the lights go out.
Having said that, you might need two of these in a closet if you want maximum lighting. We put on on the closet ceiling and under a shelf, giving us two layers of lighting. That worked fine.
If you have a walk-in closet, one of these bulbs isn't going to handle that amount of space and light it adequately. However, it can illuminate dark areas. Also works well in small coat closets, etc.
TO SUM UP: Keep your expectations realistic and you'll be fine. You'll save money on the cost of an electrician but you won't get the same illumination as an electric bulb. Still, if you can't even tell what color your clothes are because the closet is so dark, this should solve that problem.
