Most funnels for wine are just that, a funnel. This one with the stand is a plus. It's nice because I can keep it out on the wine bar. I personally like the 4 hole stem vs a single angled hole or 2 sided. I feel like it aerates the wine "softer" than other funnels I've had. Of course if it's a bottle of 3 buck Chuck, any decanting would help.
Description of Swissmar Decanting Funnel, 4-hole Stem with Stand
This sommelier quality, two-tone finish stainless steel funnel has a mesh filter to stop wine sediment and traces of cork, and a drip catcher base. Wine flows through three holes just above the closed bottom of the funnel; this causes the wine to spread outward, down the inside walls of the decanter oxygenating the wine more, which enhances the taste and aroma.
