Customer Review: Almost like my old one

...but not quite. My first Hot Shot 'bit the dust' after many years of use. My first one had a plain stainless steel interior, and this one is coated with a teflon-type coating. I personally prefer to avoid such coatings, so I was not too happy about that detail. It has however, worked without flaw - It is an excellent product that sees usage 4 to 5 times a day.Customer Review: As a replacement

I bought this for my Mother to replace an older model which had built up calcium deposits and leaked badly. It works fine, just as well as the older model. But my Mother is nearly blind and pretty feeble. The new location for the "On" switch is a little harder for her to find and it is pretty stiff. She has a difficult time depressing the button to turn it on. The ridges help her locate it, but the location of the appliance on her counter requires her to reach an arm's length so when she depresses the button her finger rests on the ridge around the button and makes it difficult to depress it far enough to turn it on. The older split lip switch was much easier to work for her.Customer Review: Been buying Hot Shots for years

I found this to be the fastest way to heat water for coffee, hot chocolate, instant soup, etc. From experience they last for years. I give HotShots as gifts to my friends who drink cocoa and instant coffee. Sunbeam has made a great product even better! (I have owned a Hot Shot, the original, and a Hot Shot II. We had a Hot Shot and used it extensively to heat water to heat baby bottles. After a very respectable 3 year life (at 6 uses a day), it finally died.
We went without, using the microwave for a while, but had to break down and buy another Hot Shot.

Of all of them, this was the most useful. Put in the water, press the button, and voila, hot water! I'm about to get shipped upstairs at work and won't be near the microwave to fix my oatmeal any longer; I'm planning to get another of these for my new cubicle. Also good for cup of soup, hot cocoa, tea, etc. By the way, our fifteen year old Hot Shot is STILL working just fine.
