I received my first Sunbeam Hot Shot Beverage Maker in 1977, as a holiday gift from co-workers. It was harvest gold, so I replaced it about 10 years later with a white one when I updated my life. It never wore out. Now, about 20 years later, I just replaced the white Hot Shot with a new white one, because the lid latch finally wore out--the main functions were still working fine. I use the Hot Shot daily to heat water quickly for tea, soup, hot chocolate, and many other things. I do not know what I would do without it. I have given Hot Shots to everyone in my family over the years, and (like me) they all have found it to be one of the most useful gifts they ever received. It is lightweight and compact, so it can even be taken on trips for use in hotel rooms or when staying with friends.Customer Review: A Perfect Product

I have used the Sunbeam Hot Shot for so many years I can't even tell you exactly how many. Now my two daughters use the Hot Shot as well. Both my daughters are teachers and now not only have a Hot Shot in their homes but also have one in their classrooms as well. I had to replace the one for my one daughter this Christmas because her son decided to use it with milk... A complete disaster! Although she knew this was a no-no, he didn't. Needless to say, we had to replace the Hot Shot. I was soooo glad that Sunbeam is still making the Hot Shot. We certainly couldn't do without it.Customer Review: A drop in quality

I purchased this item about two months ago to replace a Hot Shot that I inherited from my college roommate about 29 years ago. I was very pleased with the original as it server me well through college and several jobs afterwards. For the past 18 years it has been in the kitchen at my company and has made several cups of hot water every day. The gasket finally gave out and I needed a replacement. This new version is quite a bit lighter and seemingly less sturdy than the original however it does work as advertised. I anticipate that the control buttons will give out first and I will need to replace the unit. The new version also sits a bit lower on the counter than the old one. Overall, this works OK although I doubt that I will get even 5 year of service out of it.Customer Review: A fantastic product.--simple and fast!

I am not a big fan of specialty appliances, but this is definitely a "must have". It boils water in about 20 seconds, so there are endless beverage uses for it(tea, hot chocolate, etc...). But I've also found TONS of other times it has come in handy. I've used it to make instant oatmeal almost every day for the last three years! It still heats the water as quickly as the day we got it. The machine itself is slim and only takes up a minimal amount of counter space. Now that I've had one, I know I couldn't do without it.
