Customer Review: Bad News for Ants!

One of the household problems we have to deal with is Argentine ants. They are small (1/8 in.), dark and numerous. They invade the house at various times and are almost impossible to keep out. They seem to be mostly interested in foods, particularly meats and sweet things and the invasions can involve great numbers. I've tried a variety of controls, but none were particularly successful until a friend suggested MaxAttrax Ant Bait. It can be hard to find, and I finally picked some up at a Home Depot store.
The bait comes in small plastic containers. I place them in areas that ants have invaded. Sometimes the ants show immediate interest, sometimes almost none. However, after a day or so, the ants are gone. Sometimes we are invaded from a number of different directions, so I use several bait traps in widely scattered positions. The bait is a slow acting poison. The ants eat it and take it back to the colony where they feed it to the other ants and to the queen. Thus, if you are successful, the entire colony is wiped out. However, there are numerous colonies and they are all closely related. The ants will ultimately be back. We try to keep all possible potential ant food unavailable and to stop any new invasion as soon as we are aware of it.
The MaxAttrax Ant Bait is an effective product. If I had any criticism it would be that the individual bait stations don't seem to last very long. However, this is the best Argentine ant control we have found and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone with this annoying problem.
