Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sharp R-820Bw 900-Watt 0.9-Cubic-Foot Convection Microwave, WhiteCustomer Review: It functions as reviewed Summary: 3 Stars
I read all the reviews and had great hopes for this item. I have been disappointed and it doesn't pop popcorn well at all. Convection oven works, and so does the grill but is not easy to clean if you are doing steaks or burgers (items that spatter). The microwave does behave ok, but you need to adjust times and always use a dish, since on the metal tray alone it takes much longer - a microwave thing, I think. It's useful enough to keep, but I would not order the same thing as a replacement. The compu functions I have tried don't seem to match my needs and it's complicated to figure out which option to use - constantly looking at the manual for reference. Defrost works pretty well. If I can figure out how to get popcorn popped, I might give it a 4 star.
Customer Review: My 3rd Sharp product Summary: 4 Stars
I have owned 3 Sharp Convection/Microwave ovens over the past 25 years. They are the only one that I will buy. This last oven is a little smaller than the rest but performs as well as the others. Most of the functions are the same as I had before with a few added ones such as the "grill". I have only had this product for about a month but I wouldn't have any other.

Sharp R-820Bw 900-Watt 0.9-Cubic-Foot Convection Microwave, WhiteAttractive compact appliance with easy to use features, both programmed and manual. Especially liked compact size which is adequate for nearly all cooking needs. Would like option to stop turntable.
Customer Review: Save your Money!! Do Not Purchase!!! re: sharp 820BW Summary: 1 Stars
I had the Sharp 930 AW microwave for ten years, with the convection oven and loved it. I caught my watch on the door lever and broke it. When I closed the door, the turntable kept turning, so I felt it unsafe and decided to purchase a new one. Did my research, I am pretty technical with equipment, and decided to purchase the 820BW, since it was 20 lbs. lighter. Firstly, it comes with a "mica filter" inside, which is "paper like", requires cleaning, to prevent megatron from overheating, machine difficult to clean, micro action definitely not accurate, had to redo each step two or three times to get proper heating. Does not have accurate sensors. Have to open door to estimate different foods and get numeric suggestions in computing cooking estimates. Fan exposed in back-open space largeand rounded shape, clumsy, smells up the whole apt. Neighbors complained when I warmed up fish. Oder permeated my hall.I have used my previous model for many years with no complaints. It appears that company does not make same quality goods. Gives directions to get rid of smell with "lemons and cloves" which is outrageous!! Turntable wobbly and not user friendly for liquids and foods must be covered. I was a bit taken back with the cautions on this machine. Having a pacemaker, never had difficulty with the previous one, but this one makes me suspect with safety issues. It definitely is a lemon. Please note: the new 930 AW is also flimsy in structure with the mica insert and similar construction. That's why I did not purchase it. I even tried two micros of same model. First one had a defective door.Hinge was a bit away from cabinet in structure.
It is made in Thialand and I believe put together in France.
Consumer reports does not review this one. They review the 930AW, but it is not on the top of the list. Read reviews before you purchase.
Save yourself a headache. Sharp was called and they wanted to even service the first one after I had it for 1/2/hour!!! I could not believe it. (Probably at my expense.) It ways 45 lbs.I buy tons of items with wonderful Amazon and thankfully they returned it with no hassle. Amazon is the greatest and I hope they look into this item.
I was very disappointed. They do not have a sensor, they have compucooking which is "out to lunch!!" Never calibrates properly even with fresh or frozen veggies or specific simple frozen foods. I pulled out my steamer after 1/2 hour.
I tried everything to make this work, but was very disappointed.
Never again.
I am using a tiny sanyo in the interim until I see what is available in the micro convection area that is decent. At least it warms and is consistent. It only costs $60.00 at bed bath and beyond with a 20% discount it is even cheaper. For temp using it serves it's purpose.
Hope this helps you out there. Buyer beware.

Customer Review: Sharp Carousel Summary: 5 Stars
This replaced a 15 year old Sharp Carousel microwave on a boat on which the power supply failed because of a voltage spike. The new unit works fine and has more features than the old one. If this one lasts 15 years, I'll be happy!
