Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of SewPro SP-402 QuickStitch Sewing Machine

Customer Review: Great for learning
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this item as something to learn on, and it is wonderful. However, this is not a machine for heavy sewing. But for small projects like curtains, quilt top, pillow cases, and similar items its perfect. A great item to learn on.

Customer Review: Great for what it is and what I need
Summary: 4 Stars

I needed a sewing machine to stitch together the toys my dog ripped apart and to make him new ones. I had never used a sewing machine in my life, and so I researched a lot of the lower-priced machines on Amazon and Jo-Ann Fabrics. I opted for this machine because I wanted a food pedal and an AC power source.

For a beginner's machine, I think it's great. I'm learning how to sew, how to thread the machine, and how to be patient (which I discovered is very important). When I actually get the hang of things are start working on clothing, I'll upgrade to a fancy machine with all sorts of stitches and lights and doodads. For right now, my dog likes the stitching of this machine, I like the ease of use, and my fiance likes how small it is.

Customer Review: Ideal For Rocket Scientists With Perfect Eyesight
Summary: 1 Stars

What a shame that such a pathetic product is manufactured in this age of technology. First of all, sewing machines have included a little electric light since the 40's. With all of the intricacies of just threading this machine, a light should be required by law.

The instruction book, which was written with rocket scientists in mind, details "loop around at 3:00, then again at 6:00.." You should try to see the miniscule loop positions.

I received the machine today after a week of anticipation, spent 2-1/2 hours of diligently reading and following the instructions, and now I cannot wait until tomorrow to return it.

Customer Review: Little but Mighty
Summary: 4 Stars

This little machine is easy to use. Light weight. I can go from sewing quilt pieces to making a fancy dress for the holiday. It performs like a full size machine. It is so simple to use that I have taught my grandson, who is homeschooled and 13, to use it for projects intended for Christmas presents. He made his Mom pot holders, and his brother a nap blamket.

Thank you

Customer Review: Machine is temperamental but will work with some tweaking...
Summary: 1 Stars

I followed all of the instructions and, at first, could not get this machine to work in an acceptable manner. Frequently, the upper stitch would not connect with the lower (bobin) stitch. I tried various tension settings and checked all of the threading many times.

Then, I purchased a better thread for sewing machines and tried adjusting the tension settings again. I was finally able to get the product to sew correctly.

I would still have to say, this product is not for the faint of heart. But, it will work if you are tenacious!
