This timer is NOT a good timer if you want exact times. It's hard to set it for an exact amount of time, and because of the amount of 'wiggle room' the top part has, even if you think you've got an exact time, it's probably not right.
A good, cute timer if you want a general idea of how long you're baking something for, but not if you want to put your cookies in for exactly 8 minutes.
Also-- I don't think the instructions mentioned this, but you need to turn the timer past 30 before setting it for a time under 30.
