Replaced a digital kitchen scale (which broke after less than a year) with this product. The scale platform is extremely small, making balancing items on it a chore - but the large scale display makes it easy to read even with bulky items piled on top. Both the size and the 16 oz maximum make using the included storage container (to hold items to be weighed) a necessity, which means extra cleaning. The zero adjustment is useful and easy to use (for a mechanical scale).
The major factor, for me, having spent 4x as much on a digital scale that broke in just a few months, is that I expect this mechanical scale will not give out until the spring does.
If one could find a piece of lightweight, food-safe, firm plastic, and glue it to the scale platform, this might increase the utility of the scale by allowing one to weigh bulkier items.

When shopping for a kitchen scale, I was so frustrated that most scales were electronic. A simply mechanism like a scale does not need to be electric! This scale absolutely fit the bill, and the best part is you can take it apart and store the scale in the small white bucket. A pound is the perfect upper limit if you're using it to weigh flour, chocolate, butter, etc. for cookies, cakes, brownies.Customer Review: Works for casual use

I just needed a simple scale for occasional kitchen measures. As for its accuracy, I really don't know but it seems to be sufficient for my needs. Heck, for $5 I don't need critical accuracy; this one seems close enough. It is a handy unit, not taking up much space and it stores nice and compact in the box it came in. My only negative comment is that the tray is not very big so some things are not easily weighed on it. Many people might find it worthwhile to spend a little bit more to get one that has a larger tray. Being the cheapskate that I am and not really needing a big tray, this one works fine for me.Customer Review: best scales ever

Wow, this Salter kitchen scales is highly accurate. I always get a perfect bake everytime. I definitely recommend this product. You'll never be disapointed with its quality.
