Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of SE Jeweler's Loupe- Double Power 10X & 20 XCustomer Review: Good product! Summary: 5 Stars
These are very useful for a novice coin collector! For the price they are offered I would recommend them for anyone who needs a closer look at something!
Customer Review: Got my eye on it Summary: 4 Stars
It is metal with glass lens and great for simple usage. If you are a professional, I don't recommend this because I can see a "wavey" image. But for $3 and free ship.... Can't beat that.
Customer Review: Great Lens Summary: 4 Stars
Very happy with the clarity of both lenses. I use them often (mostly 10x) while out and find them both useful. I do wish the swing hinge was a little stiffer but that is the only - and a very minor - complaint. Great value for the price.
Customer Review: Great Loupe Summary: 5 Stars
This loupe offers a 10x and 20x magnification. It has worked great for my needs and comes in very handy. The folding feature keeps the lens clean and safe while not in use.
Customer Review: Great Performance for the Money Summary: 5 Stars
I received mine in excellent shape -- no scratches whatsoever on the glass as one reviewer found. The size of the 10x loupe is stated to be 18mm, but the glass is 15mm or a little under 5/8 inch. The size of the 20x loupe is smaller (for looking at smaller things) and is actually sightly over the stated 12mm diameter or about 1/2 inch. This size is more than adequate for looking at, for example, diamonds, but may not be big enough for geological purposes.
As far as the optical quality, I found nothing to complain about. The mechanical build quality is more than I expected for the price. If you want a bigger, more powerful loupe with a built-in LED light, even including a spare battery, you might consider the SE 30X Illuminated Jewelers Loupe. It has a plastic housing for the lens, but the illuminator works well, and the optics diameter is 7/8 inch, or about 22mm, which is more than twice the area of the larger loupe on this model. The price is a staggering $4.15.
Face it, these things are essentially free, assuming you take the free-shipping option. And you can look this gift horse in the mouth and come away smiling.
