Customer Review: Great product, but one annoying flaw

This product works really well, and it didn't take my dog long to figure out how to use it.
HOWEVER, one day I noticed my dog was bleeding on the side of her mouth where she drank from the Lixit. Because it's metal, it gets really hot if it's in direct sunlight during the day - so I would suggest putting something in front of it to shade it if it's not shaded already. My dog was definitely affected by the burn and she doesn't use the Lixit very much any more.

Got one about 9 years ago at a farm supply store. Took about 15 minutes to train my dog to use it. It finally wore out, started to leak, and needed to be replaced. It's a major convenience during the warm weather months. Remember to remove it during extreme freezing conditions. (Could damage your plumbing if allowed to freeze.) Quick delivery. I've had several of these over the years. They work great but eventually they wear out. Make sure to check them cause if they aren't working it could be a real bad situation for your dog. I find that after a few years they start to leak and also hard water deposits will clog them.Customer Review: LOVE.

This thing is AWESOME. We used to have an automatic watering bowl, but our shepherd constantly flipped it over because she wanted fresh(er) water...which meant a big mess and constantly running water. The Lixit has been a perfect solution - couldn't be happier. It only took a couple of demonstratinos for our dog to figure it out.Customer Review: Lasted Five Years

This is a replacement for the one that lasted five years. No training needed with water dogs. It was a great solution for the golden retriever puppy that would play in her water bowl and not have water to drink. Now that she is six years old she has cool water whenever she wants.
