Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Burglabar

Customer Review: Old lady feels secure!
Summary: 5 Stars

I like to keep one of my aluminum windows cracked open just wide enough to let my cats go in and out. Of course, a burglar could easily reach in and raise the window and go in and out, too. When this type of window is closed it is secure as the release latches are inside but opened it is vulnerable as an intruder can easily access the latches.

I needed a lock but didn't want to have to drill any holes or go into a big production. I am not handy. The Burglabar absolutely did the trick, even though it is tiny, about two inches in length. It fits vertically on the top pane at any level you choose, allowing the window to be opened to any desired height. It sticks right on the upper pane with a strong adhesive and its plastic hinge-bar can be positioned and locked to prevent the lower pane from being raised. Trying to raise the lower window when the Burglabar is in place will result in the window whacking against the bar. So the window cannot be budged. If you wish to raise the window to a different height at any time, the bar can be clicked flat and the window will easily ride over it. Positioned as it is behind the glass, an intruder has no way of accessing it.

This is a simple, nifty gizmo, and this price, as compared to the price from many merchants, is very reasonable. For $10.90 with shipping, you can have peace of mind. This merchant is in Canada, but my item was shipped immediately and I got it in 7 days.

Its a very simple product that I use to keep my windows secure when the air conditioner are in. It works perfectly.

Customer Review: Stop a break-in

I heard about this product-but could never find it in our local stores. I then saw it at a friend's house . I went on line and was very happy to find it at Amazon.com.I have purchased quite a few for myself and friends. Very pleased with the product-would recommend it highlt.

Customer Review: These are great!
Summary: 5 Stars

These are really great - they are clear so they're not very obvious, and they do what they're supposed to do. You can snap them flat to open the window all the way, or click them into the lock position. It will be very hard for intruders or small children to get the window open. A burglar wouldn't waste his time making the amount of noise he'd make to get in with one of these in place. And when I moved I just soaked them with nail polish remover and with a little convincing they came off. I ordered 12 more for my new house!

Customer Review: Way over-priced after shipping cost
Summary: 1 Stars

Okay, I admit it; it's my fault that I am dissatisfied. I didn't read the description well enough to notice that the $5 price tag is for ONE of these little gems. AND I didn't read the check out info well enough to notice that the shipping was another $6. $11 for one of these is just too much.
It appears that the seller bought these in larger packages and is re-selling them per piece because it is just dropped in an envelope loose with a xerox of the install instructions.

Update March 2. Adhesive not strong enough--I wanted to use mine as a way to lock the window in an open position, but adhesive not strong enough. When opening the window, Burglabar can be easily knocked out of position.
I wasted my money on this product.
I recommend Window Wedge.
