Customer Review: Clever Idea, but...

I like the idea of using a mason jar as a soap dispenser :) When I actually received the product and looked at it up close, though, I'd hoped that the quality of the glass and lid would've been a little better. Everything is fully functional, but to me it looks somewhat cheaply made. The jar has a very noticeable seam where the mold was cast, and the glass itself has some dimples and bubbles. These are fairly minor, though. The metal lid is nice, but the brown paint coating was not even over some parts. Even when I first took the product out of the box, it looked as though a couple of crevices in the lid had already started to rust where the paint did not completely cover the lid. I really liked the fact that it had a plastic pump because I'm skeptical of the metal pumps on so many dispensers available. However, in this dispenser, every time I want to pump some soap, I have to put my hand in between the pump and the top of the jar lid because the lid is so wide. (There's not much clearance between the two.) The nice thing about the lid, though, is that it can screw onto pretty much any jar of similar size. So if you prefer clear glass instead of green, just put the lid on a jar with clear glass. (I kind of wish they sold the lid with the pump as its own product.)
So overall, very clever product, but it just doesn't work for me as much as I hoped it would. If the glass and lid were better quality and the pump spout reached a little farther, then I would give it more stars.
