I bought this mask because I am going to Beijing, China, for 3 weeks and am very concerned about the effect of the pollution there on my asthma. I am testing it out at home first. This mask is EXCELLENT at filtration. When I wear this mask, I am able to do yard work or even vacuum without choking, either during the activity or afterward. It is truly amazing.
The fit is ALMOST great. The metal nose tab can be shaped to a flare that seals the top of the mask well. The neoprene type material seals well along my cheeks, but the issue is the strap. There is one simple strap that fastens at the base of the neck. But because of the shape of the mouth area, it is impossible to seal the bottom of the mask. If I tighten the strap in the back, it puts too much pressure on my nose, but even at its tightest, the mask still gapes along my chin to such a degree that I can put several fingers under where it should be sealed snug, and if I breathe deeply, I can feel the air rush in that gap, which absolutely defeats the whole filter.
It seals pretty well if I raise the strap, but that puts it across the middle or bottom of my ears, which becomes quite uncomfortable, so it can't stay there long. If you look at the photo of the guy in the advertisement, you'll see the strap pinning the bottom of his ears, too. If I put the strap higher, it slides down the back of my head. Who designed this mask? Someone who lacks ears or whose head does not slope?!
So, if the seal is so poor, why do I love this mask so much? After a lot of experimentation, I finally split the strap all the way to the mesh panels. Now I fasten the top half of the strap on top of my head and the bottom half behind my head where the original strap went. The seal is superb, and much like a surgical mask, it fits around my ears, not through through them. I think I need to reinforce the split strap now.
Bottom line: best mask I've ever tried, but be prepared to make alterations on it. (I read where one guy sewed extra straps on it.) That's a shame on a $50 product.

This isn't a bad product, but my experience with this reseller was the reverse of one of the other reviewers: I assumed I would receive a larger size and instead received a medium-small. The package indicates two sizes are made: small/medium and large. Fortunately, the sizing is fairly generous and mine was close enough to still work for me, but there should be some way to indicate size when ordering -- as of 5/11/09, this is not possible.Customer Review: Terribly Customer Service

Note, this isn't about the product or even about Amazon. Due to some previous reviewers commenting that they couldn't select the size they wanted here, I want to the Allergybegone website to place my order directly from them. I was able to select the size I wanted and also selected 2 day shipping as I wanted the product ASAP.
A week passed and nothing. I contacted the company and was told "Oh, it's currently out of stock. We're sorry." A fact that
a. should have been made clear on their website
b. they should have emailed me directly to let me know about
I'd note that this makes having paid for 2 day delivery that much more pointless.
As of 15 days later, I have still yet to receive my product. As someone who runs an online business, this is staggeringly poor customer service and simply unacceptable in this day and age.
I will be canceling my order with the company and go find someone who can actually fill my order even if it means getting a different mask. For all I know the Respro product is the best. I'll never know because the company selling the thing is staffed by incompetent buffoons with no concept of customer service.
Customer Review: The best for Los Angeles riding

I got this because I ride my bike to work in Los Angeles along side cars and buses. This mask keeps the exhaust out of my lungs and allows me to have a safe ride with a better lung capacity and longer endurance throughout my commute.
It also protects me from harassment from strangers along the way. Being a woman you can be in a little bit of danger but the mask intimidates people from saying or attempting to do anything.
