This product will make you laugh. Its supposed to be used on those really hard to open plastic packages. Theres an even a picture on it of a person struggling to open one of those hard to open packages. Hmmmm, WHY DID YOU PACKAGE THE OPENER IN ONE OF THOSE HARD TO OPEN Its hilarious!! Its like one of those possible to do Chinese puzzles. Ok so after tearing apart the packaging using my swiss army knife and a pair of cutters, I try it out and all it is is a cheaply made box cutter or utility knie. Would not reccomend to buy, just get a good pair of scissors and a utility knife and save yourself 10 bucks and avoid a scamCustomer Review: Handy but 50% fuctional

I purchased these for home and gifts but in using it for about a year. Only the lower, spring loaded blade is useful. The front blade is too dull for most cutting, too thick to get in a box .. so I don't use that part.
Good features: Good hand grip, bright yellow so I find it quickly, large enough to find easily and has no rough edges to dig into my hands. Better than using sissors. Handy with packages and boxes I receive.

I bought my first OpenX several years ago after reading about it on a website. I bought one and used it all the time for opening those annoying plastic packages that seem indestructible. It works great.
Since then, I've moved and my OpenX was essential for opening tons of boxes. I was recently married and the OpenX was used almost daily for gifts and packages that would arrive.
It's simple to use and effective. I bought 2 more to replace my aging first one (which lasted several years). It's great on plastic packages and for cardboard boxes too. I buy so much stuff on Amazon that this is essential.
Highly recommended.

This is one of those gadgets you never knew you couldn't live without until you got one! It's better than TiVo!
It's incredibly great for opening those stupid hard plastic packages but I also use it to open multi-packs of water or canned goods from Costco that are encased in heavy plastic. Slip and slide. That's all you have to do.
It's also a great grab bag gift or house gift. Oh, and they're inexpensive enough so that I can keep one in my kitchen, den, and office.
I work in a large school distrcit and I use it as a "suck-up" gift. I have become very well liked.

I thought this would be the greatest tool as more and more items are coming packaged in clamshells and theft resistant packaging. I was surprised when I received it that it, too, was packaged in an impossible to open clamshell package!
I've tried to use this on a few packages and I've never had great luck with it. The blade seems to get stuck cutting through the packaging rather than gliding through.
I guess I prefer the scissors because you can use the leverage of them to get through thicker packages.
