Customer Review: Problems once I stopped using this product

I began to use this product when we bought an old home on a lake 7 years ago, which had grey lines into the yard for washer machine drainage. We only use the house on weekends in the summer. The previous owners told us to pour some of this soap digester in the pipe each time we ran a load to avoid detergent build-up in the lines. I have been buying the product over the internet ever since and using it diligently with each load of laundry. Well last summer I ran out, and thought it wouldn't matter for a few weekends until I could order more. Several weekends later, the wash machine water backed up into the house, flooding the floor. The plumbers tried numerous times to "clear" the lines, to no luck. The detergent residue in the soil had clogged the soil from absorbing anymore water. They ended up having to dig up the yard with a bobcat to locate the grey lines and dig a drainage pit, requiring a pricey fix and relandscaping & reseeding. I wish I had stuck to using this product frequently. So I can't actually see that it is doing it's job, but clearly we had trouble as soon as we stopped using it. I would definitely recommend the product for any situation where soap/detergent residue can build up, particularly in an older home or drainage into soil.
