My husband likes to cook and complained about our knives for years. So, I bought these for our 20th anniversary. When they arrived, I thought they looked huge and scary and almost sent them back. Good that I didn't . . . he loves them. Even more surprising, I summoned my courage and used them. What a revelation! You don't work to slice anything . . . the blade just gently touches an object and, voila, it's instantly effortlessly cut. These knives just feel so right in your hand and make food prep so easy. Should have listened to my hubby years sooner.

This set of three knives from R.H. Forschner by Victorinox makes an excellent gift for the home chef. The 4-inch paring knife adeptly manages most fruit and vegetable peeling, cutting, and garnishing; the 8-inch slicing knife carves the Thanksgiving turkey and other roasts; and the large 10-inch chef's knife tackles a multitude of kitchen chopping, mincing, and slicing tasks. The Fibrox blades are made in Germany and hand-finished in Switzerland. Providing a comfortable grip, the triple-rivet, ergonomic POM (plastic over molded) handles are curved in such a way so as to reduce wrist strain over long periods of use.
