The Shinzi Katoh bento box line is a very attractive assortment of bento boxes ranging from various fairytale/bedtime story imagery to little animals. I had wanted one of these boxes since I first saw them online. However, after I purchased several of them I was a bit disappointed for these two reasons:
1) Maybe it's just me but these are quite small for an everyday lunch box. I ordered the little mermaid one (the one shown on this page) and the alice in wonderland box with matching fork (the alice box is the same size as the little mermaid box). I bought mine from a french website and it listed the capacity at 530 ml (Many bento blogs recommend purchasing your bento box based on the ml capacity; the amount of ml a box can hold is directly related to the amount of calories a bento box can hold). So it was my error because my lunch is typically more than 530 calories.
2) These lunch boxes are not microwave safe. I found this out AFTER I purchased them because I started looking through various bento websites including the shinzi katoh website.
I do love the artwork. It's very cute. This box is two tiered with locking clips on the sides so you don't need a bento box elastic band. I also like how the top tier has an adjustable divider.
These boxes are not horrible. Just make sure that you do a little research on them prior to purchasing so that you know what you're getting yourself into.
