These bulbs take about 2 minutes to warm up, at which point they are much brighter and with a nicer light than 40w regular incadescent bulbs. Unfortunately, they also have an extremely high failure rate. Out of the 12 that I bought to replace all my bathroom bulbs, 8 have failed within one year of use. Not good. I will be looking for other CFL Vanity bulbs now.
