The pur filters work as near as I can tell for filtering water. I can't prove we're getting less bad "stuff," but I can say the water tastes a whole lot better than it did before we filtered it.
For the price, I wish these lasted longer than three months (we actually use each one for at least four months), but the water drains slower and slower into the pitcher as we do this, and doesn't taste as good as when a new filter is added.

The filter that came with the original Pur container worked perfectly, but these always seemed to start clogging up halfway through the month! And I don't mean filtering slowly, since I'm expecting these through gravity based carbon filters, but I mean straight clogged up after filling the lower tank halfway! So since they half worked, they get a half good rating. I'm also giving the benefit of the doubt that they normally work, since my first filter did. Semi approve.Customer Review: Disappointed

I have a Pur and am very disappointed that I can't purchase the 950 anymore. Why did Pur replace the 950 with the lesser 950z?
First, they got rid of the filter-life indicator.
Second, but more importantly, NSF, a non-profit organization, does not certify the 950z for lead reduction but they did for the 950. Instead, Pur got the lead reduction certification somewhere else, from Pace Analytical Services. Note that Brita's filter *is* certified by NSF. Well, at least Pur did get the lead reduction certification from California's Dept of Health Services, which supposedly has stricter requirements than many other states.
Third, the 950z does not reduce as many contaminants as the 950 though it still does so more than the Brita's.

I wanted a replacement water filter for my PUR pitcher. The product I was using looked identical to the replacement box and filter in your website. However, when I received the product, the box was flimsy and the filters were very much lighter, like the filter did not have the same amount of filter or some part of the filter was missing. I guess these are what is called "gray" products. The price was cheaper than what I paid in the past at Target, but I just assumed that it was a promotion. The advertisement said if you order it by a certain time/date, you can get the product at this special price. It was a little difficult to see the catalog number on the box in the picture, but it seemed to be the same. As I pointed out above, when I did receive the product, it turned out just to be a substandard or different product. I should have known better but my guard was down because I had nothing but positive experience with Amazon. Amazon should display the catalog number clearly and do whatever is necessary for each of these products so that the purchaser would know exactly what they are ordering. I am very cautious about online ordering, but have been more willing to order online. I feel like this is a step backward for me.Customer Review: Does it!

Can't complain about this product! If you have a calendar, just make a note to yourself (write it down) - "change filters every 2 months!" Simple as that! How you can tell that filters need to be changed - easy!!! Filtrating's slowing down tremendously, (about 45-60 days later). You'll notice that!
I give it 4 stars only, 'cause I wish it came with some kind of tester, so we all know, how clean and clear the water is!
