Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of PUR CRF-950Z 2-Stage Water Pitcher Replacement Filter, 3-PackCustomer Review: 3 hours per pitcher Summary: 1 Stars
How long do you expect a water filter to last? Maybe the advertised 60 days?
I make two pitchers of water a day. My last four Pur filters (from two separate boxes ordered months apart) have gone "slow" on me within 3 weeks of starting them. 1-3 hours for a pitcher of water is not acceptable, and since this behavior is new within the last year, it's rather suggestive of a company trying to pressure us into buying a new box sooner than they advertise we'd need to.
I'm in Mountain View, CA, where the unfiltered water is pretty good, so it's not an issue of my input water having more pollutants than average. (For reference, the water here is better than Santa Fe, Chicago, DC, LA, and just about everywhere else in the US. So if you live in a place with water about as hard or harder than in any of those places, expect these filters to slow down on you even sooner than they do for me.)
Customer Review: A good fliter with a slow filteration process Summary: 2 Stars
I have been using this filter and the 2 stage dispenser for a month now.
The filter works really well. But it takes upto 12 hours to filter one batch of water.
Extremely slow.
Please be wary of that.
Customer Review: A great buy-- for a 3 pack! Summary: 5 Stars
I can't find these anywhere Besides Lowes and they only sell a 2 pack for I think 19.85 or something. So for a 3 pack this is a great bargain.
I use these in the large water dispenser, so I am not aware of the LED issues, I just change mine about every 1.5-2 months. They come with a cling-on reminder so it is easy to remember, plus I find that when the water filters "fast" it is time to swap them out.
I really don't drink water.. I use it for my dog's water, coffee tea etc.. but when I do drink it, it ia just like drinking nothing.. sounds weird but that is just what it should taste like right? pure clean cold water. I am sure Britta makes a nice filter also , but if you need the stage 2 PUR filter, get these in a 3 pack.. it is like getting one free!

Customer Review: A lot for the money Summary: 4 Stars
A very nice value for the money. I have only needed to do it once or twice during the life of a filter. The filters do their job well. Of the pitcher systems I have tried, this 2-stage system produces the best tasting water. These filters really make water taste clean. The only problem is that they occasionally begin to filter more slowly. The solution is to remove the filter and give it a couple shakes. Not a big deal -
Customer Review: A new design flaw w/ particles Summary: 4 Stars
I like the Pur table-top pitchers and the water quality and I did not mind it when they removed the indicator a few years back. But the latest batch I received has been redesigned and has a new problem.
These filters have paper filter in the bottom and a thick layer of black (carbon) and white globular medium above it, held in place with a fiber/foam disc.
Until the latest versions the disc was not held in place well and could move, releasing some of the filter material. But the top blue portion had very tiny slits and the material could not come out the filters. The latest ones have much larger openings and holes on top for improved water flow and they attempt to fix the loose disc problem by adding some tabs that holds the fiber/foam disc in place. Except there is always some loose filter medium in there to being with and the initial rinsing has never gotten rid of all of them for me. Now I have to rinse the filters a lot more often at the beginning, have loose (albeit very few) material in top portion of my pitcher, and have to watch out that they don't go to lower half of the pitcher when I change the filter.
I'm nor sure if the material is dangerous to ingest or not and there is only few of them, but I certainly don't like them being able to escape into the water now.
