I love PUR filters, the water quality is great - that being said, unfortunately its the design of this pitcher that disappoints.
I bought this pitcher with the intention of taking it to work so we could have cool filtered water on demand, yet I sent it back within in a day of receiving it because of the clumsy and difficult way to re-fill! You have to take the whole top off, there is no flap or easy fill technique, and after trying it a couple of times I realized that no-one in the office was going to take the time to pry the lid apart from the filter chamber (which is really quite difficult) and actually fill it up again!

Maybe the filter system is the best, but the pitcher design is poor, the lid that closes the pitcher is almost attached making so difficult to open and close when refilling the water, I owned a Brita pitcher and it system was a pleasure, so think about it and look for something that has it all, I'll return mine.Customer Review: Does what it should

After reading everyone's reviews, I feel like we all can't be talking about this same pitcher. I've had this pitcher for around a year. The water tastes great. Perfect. The plastic has never cracked on me, and I've left it out of the refridgerator multiple times to clean it and such with no problem. Some people were saying it takes 20-30 minutes for the water to filter through. That's crazy! It takes maybe 5 minutes tops. The LED indicator is never going to be 100% accurate because everyone uses a different amount of water. You think people would understand this. That's how it is for any water pitcher. It's more of a guide really to how old it is. How hard is it to notice that your water is tasting a little worse, along with the LED ligth being red, and change the filter. With two adults in my household that both use it, I find one filter is good for around another month to month-and-a-half after the LED turns red, which is a lot of life for one filter. I never found the lid impossible or even difficult to get off. I've never cut my finger or anything like some other people have been saying in the reviews. You do kind of have to get a little nail underneath it to pop it off, but before I read these reviews, I didn't even think of the lid as a problem. It's definately not a deal breaker. I'm sure there's better water filtration pitchers out there, but I know there's probably more that are much worse. I would reccomend it.Customer Review: Filters are Defective

I had really anticipated my complete switch over to PUR from Brita because of the better taste and more comprehensive list of contaminants that PUR removes. But this filter that came with the PUR pitcher I bought for work decomposed into the filtered water basin along with the water. I followed the directions to a "T". When I poured the unfiltered water into the top reservoir, not only did filtered water come out at the bottom, so did a continual flood of black charcoal. I don't mean a scattering of charcoal bits like you get with any filter. I mean a heavy flow of carbon that completely covered the bottom of the pitcher with about a half-inch of carbon "sand." This experience plus my recent experience at home with the PUR snap-on faucet filter that won't stay on after 2 months of use, has convinced me that PUR doesn't know what it is doing with regard to the system for its filters.
