Customer Review: Good filter, TERRIBLE pitcher handle

PUR took a perfectly good product, their old CR800 filter pitcher model, and updated it to the new CR-6000 series. Unfortunately, they favored design glitz over function. The handle on the new pitcher is atrocious. It's comfortable only for children or adults with very small hands. I can grab the old pitcher any old way and have a firm grip even when it's full. The new pitcher requires you pick it up just the way the woman in the picture on the box is holding it -- which is a complete pain if you use it often. Let alone if you have any kind of hand problem or have a larger hand (and my hands aren't that big). I advise any prospective buyer to take the thing out of the box at the store and check to see how it feels to pick up the pitcher, especially imagining that it's full and weighs that much more. I returned this dog and will try to find one of the old models somewhere. Another example of a product well-designed for function being ruined by some overpaid designer trying to make it look good and ending up making it work far less well.Customer Review: Good tasting water..

I purchased this pitcher and a "stainless steel" water bottle, but the bottle wasn't anything like what was advertised, so Amazon removed the bottle from their website and gave me a refund.
But, the pitcher does deliver great filtered water. My wife receives free Dasani purified water at work, but prefers the water filtered by this pitcher. So, she fills those empty bottles with "our" water and carries them to work or when she is out shopping.
I'm a big coffee drinker, and using the water from this pitcher makes the coffee taste much better and less acidic.
Now, if I could just get a good promotional price on replacement filters, the deal would be more than perfect.

I recieved my PUR water filter pitcher today and Ive got to say I am very impressed with how fast it filters the water and the crisp taste of it after wards. I taste tested my tap water straight from the tap and then from my PUR pitcher and I was amazed and the difference. I have to say I was a little skeptical after I had purchased the pitcher and then read the reviews but I took the chance and im glad I did. I will be recommending this pitcher to all of my friends great taste and I feel much better knowing that my daughter will get clean water to drink instead of water that taste like bacteria is in it. For many years I've been using Brita. My Brita pitcher is pretty old so I was actually a little worried about BPA and that led me to researching water filter systems. Turns out that both Brita and Pur are BPA free but the Pur system was winning in tastes tests. After having the filter for a week now I can tell you that the water really does taste better.
The Pitcher:
The system is remarkable similar to the brita. You have a separate filter that pops into the pitcher. However the pitcher design isn't perfect. You need to really make sure the filter sits tight and in the proper location. I needed to twist mine till I felt it slide in. If you don't do this, you'll see unfiltered water run down the sides of the filter casing. This isn't good. The second issue is the top of the pitcher. Brita has a nice little flip that allows you to fill the pitcher without removing the lid. Pur doesn't have this. So as far as pitchers go, Brita is better.
The Water:
However the pitcher is secondary to the water. Here the water shines, it really does taste a lot better than the Brita and is night and day better than my town's water. The fact that we have a double filtration system does seem to make a very noticeable difference.
Overall:
I went in sceptical and was pleasantly surprised; Pur has converted me to their system. Now if they can get their pitchers designed better this would easily be a 5 star product
