Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of PUR CR-6000 7-Cup Water Filtration PitcherCustomer Review: Filters 2x the impurities from water than Brita! Summary: 4 Stars
Let me start off by saying that I can taste the difference of water from different sources very easily. I have lived off of bottled water for the past few years and consider it the absolute best but now want to save money by filtering my own. I started off with pretty much the same product but from Brita. After getting the Brita I immediately determined that it was just producing decently purified tap water but still did not like the taste compared to what i was used to. I went to PUR's website and Brita's website and compared. I figured out that the PUR filter removed 2x the amount of different impurities from water. It was then just a no brainer to get the PUR. I got it and i love it! In a blind test i would have a hard time being able to tell the difference between the two. As far as how long it takes to filter the water, Yes, it takes longer than the Brita filters but it is filtering 2x more impurities out and it is reasonable unlike how others seem to make it not. You will need to give it about 15-20 minutes to get a decent cup of water. Just keep it filled and you will not find yourself waiting for a glass. I will update if the unit has any issues but so far there are none!
Customer Review: Filters clog up after 10 days Summary: 2 Stars
I bought the pitcher version although I have very clean water, did it to get the fluoride taste out. After 2 weeks, nothing running through. Called Pur, they promised me a filter replacement coupon, and sent me a 2 for 1 instead. Bought new filter, clogged up again after only 10 days. Are they trying to fraud people into buying a new filter every 2 weeks? I had the faucet version, too, for over 6 years, and it holds up to 6 months. What is going on here?
Customer Review: Flimsy pitcher. Summary: 2 Stars
The pitcher is flimsy. The lid (even more flimsy) was cracked when it arrived. I'm just using the inner filter part and keeping the water in a large glass jar. The filter part works quite well.
Customer Review: Good -- no cover over spout Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good, cheap, water purification pitcher/filter. The other reviews are generally correct -- it takes hours to filter your water -- but that isn't a problem for me -- I put it in the refrigerator and it's there when I need it. I generally always keep it topped off each time I open the fridge.
My only complaint -- it does not have a lid over the spout. I find myself putting a wadded paper towel into the spout opening to prevent the water from starting to taste/smell like the interior of the refrigerator.
Otherwise, I can't complain. It does what it says, and it does so at a really cheap price.
Customer Review: Good filter for improving taste of well water Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good filter for improving the taste and smell of well water. I highly recommend it for anyone who makes coffees in a coffee pot or uses a vegitable steamer. It will add years to your appliances. the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it requires filling twice to fill a 12 cup pot of coffee. Not such a big thing is you plan ahead. I would like it to hold three additional cups.
