Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of PUR CR-6000 7-Cup Water Filtration PitcherCustomer Review: A useless thing Summary: 2 Stars
Perhaps this filter makes water healthier. Perhaps. What I can tell is that it doesn't make it taste better. The water that I get out of this filter is slightly on the bitter side, and tastes far worse than bottled water. I can't really drink it.
Other uses? I had an idea of using filtered water for cooking, but it turned out to be impossible because this filter just doesn't produce it quick enough. Other reviewers mentioned mentioned the speed issue, but I couldn't understand what they are talking about before actually buying the thing. What happens is that if you fill it with water for the first time in the morning, the first pint gets filtered pretty quickly, in a couple minutes. The second pint takes longer, and getting the third pint takes about an hour. In the end, when you start cooking, you can't have enough water within a reasonable time.
The bottom line is that the filter can't be returned so I'll keep it, but I wish I spent the money on something else.
Customer Review: After a few fills, water takes HOURS to go through Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this to replace a Brita pitcher I'd dropped and cracked. The PUR filter is supposed to remove more contaminants. However, it filters so slowly after a few fills (HOURS) that I simply can't wait and end up drinking tap water. So net-net, the Brita filter kept me healthier. The Brita pitcher filtered water quickly enough that I never drank tap water.
I understand that better filtering inevitably means slower filtering, but HOURS to filter is ridiculous. I could replace the filter before it's due, but that greatly increases my costs and I resent it. I keep a tally of how many fills, and so far it's just 35. I'm supposed to get 80 fills per filter, as with the Brita. These filters aren't cheap. If I replace a filter when I haven't even gotten half the number of fills I'm supposed to get, it more than doubles my cost.
Water filtered through PUR tastes very good, probably better than through Brita, but I'm not sure it's worth it. Perhaps I got more contaminants with the Brita filter, but it was more practical. And maybe my water doesn't contain these additional contaminants in the first place.
Having said all this, perhaps I just got a bad filter and the next one I use won't do this - one can always hope. But I read another review complaining about slow filtering, so I'm not hopeful.
Customer Review: Bad design- Do not buy PUR CR-6000 water pitcher Summary: 1 Stars
PUR CR-6000 2-Stage Oval-Shaped Water-Filtration Pitcher
Following the instruction, I filled the pitcher and poured the first glass of water. The pitcher cracked. As I observed it, the pitcher body cracked where the top of the handle is attached. No wonder! That is exactly where the highest stress will be when you tilt the pitcher to pour. The handle could be attached an inch, or even an half inch, below the edge of the body to strengthen it. Do not buy this item as it will not serve you too long.
Customer Review: Baker Summary: 5 Stars
Again purchased this water pitcher to put my filter water in the pitcher so we won't waste the water. The pitcher filtered the water even more. Thanks Amazon once again for a product well made.Wasn't sure of which one to get but I am sure that I had made the right choice.
Customer Review: Better then tap water Summary: 4 Stars
I've been growing increasingly paranoid about contaminants in tap water so I went and bought the PUR water filter. So far so good! It was easy to put together and filtered quickly. I did read a lot of reviews about how crisp and clean the filtered water was and have to say that I was dissappointed. I grew up on well water and I've never tasted anything as refreshing as that. But since I've moved into town and am now on city water I do have to say it's better then that.
So, only 4 stars because I was expecting well water quality.
