Customer Review: I was NOT in a great mood all day

On the very first use, the plastic part that stops food from going up inside the Slap Chop broke. I had no luck contacting the manufacturer and taking advantage of my 10 year guarantee. It was only one corner that broke off, so I didn't think much of it and kept using it. After several more uses, the rest of that piece broke, so now if I want to slap my troubles away with the Slap Chop, food gets way up inside of it making it hard to clean (or chop) anything. It's worthless.
That being said, if that cheapo piece of plastic had remained in tact, this would be a 5-star rating.

I had this and tried to give it a chance. I used it to cut tomatoes, garlic and onions. It did not work at all. All of the vegetables stayed on the blades and got smashed as opposed to "chopped" I would rather use my mini food processor, It's much easier and gets the job done in seconds.Customer Review: Isn't worth a chop

Doesn't chop isn't completely correct. It does make one chop but after that the food you chopping is stuck in the blades.
And this happens with any moist fruits or foods you attempt to chop, and it's not easy to get the stuff back out. I know
when this is demonstrated on TV the chopper is easy to open and clean but my the one I have is very difficult to open
without fear of breaking the device.
I'm going out tomorrow and look for one that works. I think the culprit in this case is the blade design; it traps food and
is difficult to clear. I chop apples to feed to my parrots and this thing is not up to the task.
All and all this device is very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
This is just another one of those products that when it's demonstrated by a slick host who has multiple takes to make it
look can appear to be a good product. I'm disappointed in myself for falling for the hype.

I bought this because I put a lot of onion on everything, so although I only use this for onions, I use it on a regular basis and it works really well every time. I have no idea why it wouldn't nicely chop through onions for other people but what I do for an average sized onion is, using a knife, I cut the onion into 4, then place the onion with the outer layer against the cutting board and then chop it as finely as I want using the Slap Chop, later taking away the outermost layer because you can't chop through that. I was iffy about buying this thing because of all the negative reviews, but as for what I want it to do, it does it well - I haven't yet been disappointed. It's also pretty easy to clean.

update: I've also used it to chop up broccoli and the Slap Chop does an equally awesome job chopping up broccoli.
