I really love the Slap Chop. And how great is the tv ad! I had another food chopper that was ok but impossible to clean so I never used it. I have used the Slap Chop so far for vegetables, fruits, and ice cream toppings and it works as advertised. Very easy to clean by just opening it up. Great item at a great price and fast shipping. I bought this from Wal-mart in section where they have a lot of "As Seen on TV" things. It's very good for chopping nuts, which saves tons of time when making my own trail mix. It also does most fruit that is either peeled or doesn't have a strong skin, but not things like cherries or tomatoes -- the blade stops at the skin and then I have to separate the pieces by hand. Still it's faster than chopping by hand and great for ice cream toppings!
The other thing wrong (hence the minus 2 stars), is that it's not very easy to clean like the guy claims on the commercial. It is NOT dishwasher safe, so has to be washed by hand, and it's not easy to hold so that the housing doesn't keep falling down AND you keep you fingers safe (the blade is VERY sharp) while you wash. The blade is also very narrow so you can't really get a sponge or brush all the way in to the corners, so maybe you should soak it.
Overall, I really like it. It chops most things, fits together nicely, and is easy to assemble & use if not so easy to wash.

The shipping & handling charges are hidden in the "fine" print. Not like other online orders where S & H come up before confirming order. It is $7.95 per chopper even if one is free! A total of $15.90 for both. This is a poor way to conduct orders and business - it had better be worth it OR I will send both back, however no refund on shipping. Took forever to get here. Bought it New but arrived in obviously used condition. Had a big dent in one of the blades, box looked to have been opened a lot, did not come with any papers. HORRIBLE WASTE OF MONEY. Very disappointed in this seller. Food just sticks between the blades of it, so it's not chopping anything. There's probably pieces missing knowing this particular product this person sent me. BEYOND FRUSTRATED!Customer Review: I like it

It's simple.
Relatively easy to clean.
Doesn't take up much room.
Relatively safe.
Self contained food compartment, so foods don't go flying.
It's a lot simpler than the contraption I was using before.
What's not to like?
You need to cut the food into manageable pieces before you start chopping, and then strike it firmly. The more you strike, the finer the food gets. I use it on my polymer cutting board. Besides a good sharp knife or two, it's all I need to prepare the finer foods for 2 people.
Normal cleaning is as simple as rinsing off, and perhaps soaking in a soapy solution for a few minutes, then allowing to dry.
Occasionally food not cut to the right size will clog up the blade, especially potatoes. But this is generally easily remedied with a firm slap. Hey, slap chop. Get it..
