Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Retractable Dual Line Clothesline, 98'

Customer Review: Broke three ways
Summary: 1 Stars

Do not buy this product. Though I love the design, the materials do not hold up. Mine broke three ways. First, one of the lines came off the spool (laden with clothes, of course, which fell to the ground). Next, one of the feet that you wrap the line around broke off and cannot be repaired. Finally, the other line gave up the ghost, also separating from its spool, again sending my clothes to the ground. All of this within a year of purchase and with nothing besides normal wear and tear. I used it about three times a month and always brought it in when I wasn't using it (so it's not like it sat in the sun all the time or anything).

Customer Review: Dual Line Clothesline
Summary: 5 Stars

This has been very helpful and works great. Found the trick to not having it sag is to double loop with second loop tightening from the base.

Customer Review: Good - until it splits in half!
Summary: 2 Stars

I was a little hesitant to buy this, but since it got pretty good ratings overall, we decided to give it a try. Keeping in mind the warnings on other reviews to double-wrap the line to help with sagging, we found that it worked quite well. Then one day the case started splitting in half and one side went spiraling wildly as the spring inside unwound. Fortunately it didn't hurt anyone, including my dogs, but I think it could have if anyone of us had been in the wrong place right then.

My husband got the spring rewound and we applied liberal amounts of epoxy to rejoin the casing. We let it dry for several days to make sure it was good and solid. Well...that didn't work. First time using it again - with towels and a nice breeze, it popped apart again. I think we're just going to have to chuck it - and we've had it for less than 6 months!

I'm rating it a 2 because it does work well - when it works and if you don't hang anything too heavy on it, it might hold up. For us, it is now on its way to the landfill.

Customer Review: Good quality for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

Very easy to install, we did ours in brick with no problems. Nice expandability, cord for hanging seems very strong. Time will tell how this product holds up to weather and use. Installed under an eave so hopefully we'll get many good years. Shopped many different types and places to purchase prior to deciding and Amazon had the best price on this item.

Customer Review: Great "green" clothes dryer!
Summary: 5 Stars

I use this at our summer home. Only 2 people, but wanted to dry sheets without a trip to the laundromat! Easy to install. My 70 year old hands did it.
