Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Margaritaville DM0500 Bahamas 36-Ounce Frozen-Concoction MakerCustomer Review: Husband LOVES it! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband loves to entertain guests with special frozen concoctions. Since giving him the Margaritaville Bahamas Frozen Drink maker for Father's Day he hasn't missed a chance to "whip" some refreshment up. He says it's the best thing he has ever used, very simple to operate. The fact that along with the automatic drink proportion controls, it can be used to manually put as much ice in as you would like and since he is somewhat of a control-freak with his cooking/drinks this allows him to make them perfect! His exact words, "This drink maker is so easy, I love it!".

Margaritaville DM0500 Bahamas 36-Ounce Frozen-Concoction MakerAfter trying several blenders, and a large "margarator" that broke twice, I wanted something that really did the job. Got it with this one. Took no time at all to figure out how much liquid to how much ice. It is great. It really keeps up, even with a large crowd. It is fun to use too. I highly recommend it to anyone that really enjoys a good margarita.
Customer Review: I'd buy another one Summary: 5 Stars
I have only had this for a few days, but I've made 4 pitchers of drinks thus far and I am very happy with it. Initially I had trouble putting the ice reservoir in (I had it on backwards), so I called the 877- number that was in the packaging and a cheerful and helpful customer service rep walked me though it in a few minutes. (The compass rose on the ice reservoir lid is supposed to be facing away from you, in the back of the unit). Less than 20 minutes later (the instructions say to leave the ice out of the freezer for 15 minutes before you use it), I was drinking an iced tea slushie. Yes, there's no recipe booklet and you only get a recipe for margaritas in the instructions, but figure that about 2/3 of your drink will be ice, so you need, for example, a very strong iced tea solution - I used about a cup and a half of double-strength (2 teabags per cup of water) iced tea and a full ice reservoir of ice and it tasted really good. By the way, you don't need to fill the ice reservoir to brimming -- at least my experience is that when I do this, I have shaved ice coming out of the top of the blender jar. So I backed off on the ice, and I'm still getting a full pitcher of drinks.
This is far, far better than trying to make this in my regular blender. It shaves the ice and there are no lumps of ice in the resulting pitcher of drinks, so you're not spooning them out the way I did with attempted blender slushies. Slushies do a great job of moderating your temperature and perception of heat and this machine makes terrific slushies, so I'm expecting this to get me through these insanely hot Phoenix summers.

everything is good except for the ice shaver, the ice cubes have to be very small or they don't shave well.
Customer Review: Is it wrong to love a machine? Summary: 5 Stars
I love my margaritaville!!! I can think of 3 things that have improved my quality of love and they are 1 HD TV with a flat screen, 2 the kindle 3. the Margaritaville 500. I live in Vegas which is as you know has a brutal heat during the summer months, with the Margartiaville I am making cold icy drinks that taste as good as a bar for just a fraction of the cost. The Margaritaville helps make summer bearable. Yes it is expensive but if I stay at home and drink instead of spending $14 on drinks at the strip I have paid for the Margartitaville 10xs over.
Before I bought the Margaritaville my wife informed me that we have both a blender and a smoothie maker that do the same job. This may be true but they dont do the same job nearly as good as the Margaritaville, the ice is perfect and easily slides up the straw into my mouth. Go ahead and splurge on the Margaritaville you will not be disappointed. I thought about the more expensive models, but really the 500 does a fantastic job.
