Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Magic Bullet Express 17-Piece High-Speed Blender Mixing System

Customer Review: As good as the $29 walmart one
Summary: 2 Stars

Last year I bought a rivals product at walmart and returned it because the blade spins too slow (not like my $100 blender) so my smooth-e would not be so smooth. Returned it. This year, Costco had the magic bullet on sale so I got one. I am looking for a smooth-e machine so I do not have to mess with my big ol' blender. Well, it worked just like the $29 walmart one. The power motor just does not have the power and speed to really grind through ice or frozen fruit. It will eventually get the job done but blending time is in the minutes. This one will be returned as well and I will stick to my good ol' blender that will have a finished smooth-e in less than 30 seconds. I gave this a 2 star simply because I am sure it will be good for other things but definitely not for grinding ice with speed.

Customer Review: As see on TV...as it works in my kitchen..The Magic Bullet
Summary: 5 Stars

I have seen the informercial so many times that I had to see The Magic Bullet for myself. I found the Bullet without the juicer and blender for $60 out at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead NY. I then realized that the free juicer and blender were not really free, but cost $40, which would bring the price up to the $100 as seen on TV. After reading other reviews about the juicer I have no thoughts about purchasing it or the blender..But I
As soon as I came home I had to try it. I made an omlette with ham, cheese and onions..just like on TV. It worked well..and I was impressed.
To leave nothing to chance, I then decided to grate up some semi soft cheddar..Cracker Barrel..using pulse, it grated the cheese.
I then tried red pepper..which is hard to chop in a machine..and it did that too..And it chopped onions perfectly. For the $60 I spent, I would recommend it to everyone, but not really for $100 because in my opinion for heavy duty blending, get a big blender..and for juicing, get a Juiceman.

Customer Review: As seen on TV
Summary: 2 Stars

I've seen the Magic Bullet advertised on TV. I never purchased it through any TV ad. My son and I were at Fred Meyer and saw it there. It was under $30 so we bought it. My son couldn't wait to try it out. It does a better job with making milkshakes than my full size blender ever did. Also, it does good with chopping food up. It is necessary to shake the food container to get bigger pieces of food dislodged.

The problem with the Mgic Bullet is that if you don't take the ring out before putting it in the dishwasher, it will not get thoroughly clean. I have had to clean mold off of the ring because of this. Also, if the ring isn't well seated into the lid, it will come loose while the blades are turning and the ring will get twisted around the blades and cause the motor to work extra hard running the risk of the motor burning up.

I have contacted customer support about this issue. It's all my fault they say for not making sure the ring is in place to begin with. Even if I take a spoon to the ring and run it clear around to try and make sure it's in place, it is not that easy to tell that the ring is where it should be.

I asked customer service why flat gaskets are not available. You know, similar to the kind that go on full size blender containers. Customer service did not answer my question.

Bottom line is the Magic Bullet does what it's supposed to as long as the ring is properly in place. However, I do not recommend it and that's why I give it a 2.

UPDATE: I purchased this unit on Feb. 17, 2008. Since that date, it has been used a lot. It seems to do okay with mixing ice cream and milk. But, the motor seems to work way too hard.

The Bullet has damaged one ring and totally shredded a second ring. Now it's dead. Today is Sept. 6, 2008. I'm in the market for a new blender, but I need something that will be a good buy. The Magic Bullet is not a good buy and I stand by that statement.

Customer Review: Awesome Appliance!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best. We got this to make smoothies for the kids...we throw in yummy fruits, but add a little spinach for nutrition (my kids don't eat enough vegies). The kids have no idea (nor do I) and it is SO easy. The cleanup on this appliance is it's best feature....totally minimal. It is much more convenient than a normal blender.

Customer Review: Awesome Idea, breaks to easily
Summary: 2 Stars

I used the bullet daily to make frozen cappuccino drinks and after three months of use the attachement that turns the motor broke into several pieces. If the attachment was made to withstand continual use the item would be given 5 stars. In short, excellent idea, needs to be built better!
